Job Summary:
The Vertex Internship/Co-op Program offers students the opportunity to learn about the pharmaceutical industry from a hands-on perspective. You will be working closely with and learning from some of the brightest people in the industry. Not only will interns learn about their day-to-day tasks through their specific work assignments, but they will interact and have exposure to our organizational leaders and their teams.
The Global Scientific Communications, Communication Innovation & Research Intern will support the development of scientific communication content and aid research to understand Vertex’s scientific audiences, both internal and external.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the Communication Innovation & Research team on a variety of projects dedicated to developing new ways of communicating with Vertex’s scientific audiences, including interactive scientific posters, medical education using augmented reality, visual abstracts of scientific publications, and animations.
  • Support ongoing primary research initiatives such as advisory boards, focus groups, and one-on-one interviews with stakeholders.
  • Conduct environmental scans on external digital transformation initiatives in medical affairs and report on findings. Maintain and expand library of reports and literature on health care provider communication preferences and related topics.
  • Help drive user testing and feedback sessions to collect input on scientific communication material development and evaluation.
  • Participate in and support cross-functional meetings to understand how the Communication Innovation & Research team collaborates with other functions and regions in the medical organization.
Qualifications:
  • Enrolled in a graduate program (e.g., health communication or education, public health, health sciences, pharmaceutical sciences)
  • Experience designing and implementing communications strategies and activities for science or health-related initiatives
  • Demonstrated strong academic achievement (GPA 3.0 or above)
  • Proficient in Microsoft programs including Teams, Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Working knowledge or willingness to learn about project management tools
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Interest in or experience with understanding user groups and audiences; conducting, analyzing, and reporting on formative research; and collecting and reconciling feedback from multiple stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to work well in teams and effectively manage multiple assignments and activities simultaneously.
  • Exhibits strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to take a large amount of complex information and distill the key takeaway points.
  • A desire to be part of a highly innovative company aimed at transforming the lives of people with serious diseases, their families and society.
