Stanford Medicine Partners is looking for an amazing Compliance & Privacy Manager to join our growing Compliance department!
A Brief Overview
The Compliance & Privacy Manager works collaboratively with various Compliance Leadership teams to assure SMP/UHA's adherence to SHC's compliance program. He/she will be responsible for managing all privacy related issues and will assist and support Senior Leadership in implementing and managing elements of an effective compliance program. Reports directly to SMP's Chief Operating Officer (COO) with a dotted-line reporting to SHC Tri-Valley's Senior Director of Compliance/Legal/Risk Management & Contracting.

What you will do
C-I-CARE
- Executes world class practices of service and patient care in support of C-I-CARE standards.
- Uses C-I-CARE templates and the following components for all communication with patients and staff:
- CONNECT with people by calling them their proper name, or the name they prefer (Mr., Ms., Dr.)
- INTRODUCE yourself and your role
- COMMUNICATE what you are going to do, how long it will take, and how it will impact the patient
- ASK permission before entering a room, examining a patient or undertaking an activity
- RESPOND to patient’s questions or requests promptly; anticipate patient needs
- EXIT courteously with an explanation of what will come next
Manage SMP Privacy Program
- In collaboration with Stanford Compliance, investigate and document all privacy issues reported to or within SMP; ensure any applicable corrective action is completed.
- Review and revise, as applicable, all HIPAA related policies.
- Perform privacy rounds at SMP central office and all clinics.
- Create/update/implement privacy education, as applicable.
- Provide Support in Implementing, Managing and Overseeing SMP Compliance Program
- In collaboration with the Director of Compliance and Risk Management, develop and manage annual compliance program plans.
- Manage and ensure corporate wide compliance training program is performed.
- Review and revise, as applicable current compliance related policies; identify gaps in existing policies and draft additional ones, as applicable.
- Assist with the development and presentation of reports to the SMP Board of Directors, SMP Management and SHC Compliance Department.
- Investigate and document all hotline calls; participate or assist as directed in any corrective action.
- As directed, perform research and analysis on state and federal laws affecting SMP; develop and implement any necessary communication to central office and/or clinical sites.
All other duties as assigned including department-specific functions and responsibilities:
- Performs other duties as assigned and participates in organization projects as assigned.
- Adheres to safety, P4P’s (if applicable), HIPAA and compliance policies.
Education Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree required.
- Master's Degree or JD preferred.
Experience Qualifications
- 5+ years of work experience in a healthcare setting with demonstrated knowledge of health care compliance required.
- Experience with multi-specialty physician offices and/or academic medical centers preferred.

- Demonstrated knowledge of regulatory, billing and privacy rules
- Ability to analyze and develop solutions to complex problems
- Ability to perform research regarding complex regulatory requirements

- Ability to foster effective working relationships and building consensus
- Ability to make effective oral presentations and prepare concise written reports to a variety of audiences

- Knowledge of computer systems and software used in functional area
- Effective project management skills
- Ability to multi-task
- Ability to translate and articulate complex requirements into terms easily understood by employees and providers at all levels of the organization
- Ability to develop and implement training curriculum for adult learners
- Adept and complex project planning and management
Licenses and Certifications
- CHC-Certification in Healthcare Compliance preferred.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $138,028.80 - $182,894.40 per year
