Davis Contracting is growing! We are currently seeking a professional who is self-motivated, hardworking and wants to work long-term within a small family-owned company.
The right person for the Davis Contracting Construction Estimator position brings experience, talent, leadership, energy, and a can-do drive.
This position is responsible for developing cost estimates for the cost of materials, labor and equipment for construction projects from contract bids, drawings and specifications, as well as understanding and navigating building codes. Provide consultation on planning schedules.
- Strong work ethic and POSITIVE attitude – Persistent, patient, and willing to do whatever it takes to get the job done.
- Communication - Strong Communications Skills are essential. Ability to effectively communicate (in written, verbal, and graphic form) complicated concepts to both clients and subcontractors.
- Experience - MUST be knowledgeable in commercial and residential construction and estimating. MUST have the ability to read a Blueprint and create accurate estimates.
- Flexibility - Demonstrate flexibility to navigate multiple priorities on various projects.
- Critical Thinking Skills – Capable of problem-solving and navigating multiple priorities on various projects.
- Organization Skills – Excellent ability to keep detailed notes and information.
- Time Management - Complete estimates within 24 hours of assignment.
- Relationship Building – ability to develop and foster strong relationships with industry partners, subcontractors, and, most importantly, our clients.
- Computer Skills – Must be proficient in MS Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word)
- Risk Management - Identifying and responding to potential issues throughout the project's life to minimize potential negative impacts and help ensure the safety of the workers.
- Distributing Resources - Understand what materials are needed and ensure that there are enough materials to finish the job.
- Managing Budget - Manage the financial plan and consistently evaluate the project budget. Including staffing needs at jobs.
- Follow Safety Standards - Follow all OSHA and company safety regulations.
- Managing Relationships with Key Stakeholders - Coordinate and maintain relationships with sub-contractors to ensure they have the resources available to complete a project.
