Background Check
The Inspection Service criminal background check is conducted using United States information resources only (e.g., FBI
fingerprint check, state and county checks). A criminal background check involves a 5-year inquiry for any location where
the individual has resided, worked or gone to school within the United States or its territories. As a result of this limitation,
the criminal background checks of individuals who have not resided in the United States or its territories for the preceding
5-years may not be considered complete. The Inspection Service may be able to process inquiries for U.S. Citizens only,
but only if their time spent out of the country was spent as: a trailing spouse or dependent of someone working for the U.S.
government (military or civilian), a missionary, a student attending school in a foreign country, a Peace Corps participant, or
as an employee of a U.S.-based employer/company. If the Inspection Service is unable to perform a complete background
check because of residency outside the United States, such individuals will be ineligible for Postal employment.
Functional Purpose
Leads strategic initiatives related to the integrity of Brand Marketing copy, materials, and programs and develops target
messaging. Evaluates copy to ensure consistency with United States Postal Service brand standards, voice and tone. Brings
marketing creativity to life through clear, impactful, and informative content rooted in consumer insights.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Collaborates with creative teams develop and execute concepts for major product and marketing initiatives.
2. Provides direction and guidance to internal and external stakeholders regarding brand marketing projects and initiatives.
Creates clear, concise, and grammatically correct copy.
3. Ensures all creative copy tone and style fits within the brand messaging and is directed at the target audience (e.g., health
care, care insurance). Writes, edits, and proof-reads marketing content across various media channels (e.g., web, email,
video, print, social media) to accurately reflect the voice of the organization.
4. Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to discuss project status, feedback, and suggested changes to
messaging.
5. Maintains quality control over all projects created and ensures products fit within the United States Postal Service’s brand
guidelines.
6. Maintains knowledge of USPS products and services to understand requirements and meet needs of assigned business
partners.
7. Collaborates and builds relationships with in-house agency colleagues, graphic designers, account managers and traffic
coordinators; operates as a positive agent for improving internal and communications workflow.

6. Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and perform simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
7. Knowledge with corporate brands and ability to apply knowledge of brand design and graphic design standards.
8. Knowledge of principles for creating marketing content to apply appropriate technique in various channels (e.g., short form,
long form, headlines, abstracts, direct mail).
9. EDUCATION or EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT: Possession of a bachelor’s or graduate degree in English, journalism,
communications or related discipline combined with an outstanding creative portfolio OR 2-5 of professional experience in a
corporate marketing, communications or advertising agency environment. Experience with corporate brands and ability to
apply knowledge of brand design and graphic design standards.
