Your Responsibilities
As the Data Platform Lead and a founding member of the newest Data Platform team within John Deere's Intelligent Solutions Group (ISG), your work will be instrumental in ensuring that customer data flows quickly and correctly from John Deere machines through the backend data platform.
Your primary focus as Data Platform Lead will be to take ownership of helping pinpoint where data flow errors are introduced and designing new processes to avoid regressions.
Additionally, your status as one of the initial members of this team gives you the unique opportunity to instantly shape the team's direction, and take on greater responsibility within John Deere.
You will also:
- Partner with our API development and Enterprise Support teams to quickly resolve customer issues
- Develop and document technical requirements for API development, SDET, and Tooling teams to address customer issues and streamline development practices
- Create and maintain processes to retain organizational knowledge as your responsibility increases
- Lead regular retrospectives with the team and stakeholders to continually improve the Tier 3 support process

What Skills You Need
5+ years of expertise in product engineering and development- Previous contributions as a member of an enterprise customer support team
- Roughly a year or more of experience working with Precision Ag Data
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Tactful communication skills and the ability to negotiate
What Makes You Stand Out
A history of providing enterprise support in an agronomic environment- Deep familiarity with or a specialization in Precision Ag Data
- Familiarity with leading and growing a team
- 2+ years of experience in a Software Engineering or SDET capacity
- Proficient in database management and data stream processing
- Knowledge of CI/CD and previous application of public cloud services, particularly AWS
Education Details
Bachelor's degree in either Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, MIS, or related discipline, or a High School Diploma or GED plus equivalent enterprise support experience in lieu of a degree
