We are looking to fill a Development Director of School Engagement open in the Southeast. This person must be located in American Heart Association's Southeast Region (North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Louisianna, Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee).

The Development Director, School Engagement works with select School Engagement Directors to procure meetings for new prospects that would eventually register for the American Heart Association’s Kids Heart Challenge/American Heart Challenge program.

Responsibilities

Some of your responsibilities will include (but not limited to):

In this role, you will report to the Senior Vice President, School Engagement and will work alongside other Directors to meet the overall revenue goal for the Southeast.

  • Serves as lead staff member responsible for new school outreach for select staff throughout the eight-state region.
  • This includes (but is not limited to) researching, vetting, calling, emailing and/or direct messaging (via social media) cold calls to prospects at each new school.
  • These prospects could be (but not limited to) Principals, Assistant Principals and/or PE Teachers that would be responsible for making the decision to participate in the American Heart Association’s Kids Heart Challenge/American Heart Challenge programs.
  • Assist with new school recruitment outreach and assist with scheduling Planning Meetings for registered schools.
  • Coordinate recruitment and follow-up procedures with a list of schools during different parts of the School Engagement Sales Cycle.
  • Fill in as School Engagement Director as needed.
  • Creating the systems, processes and procedures at scale that are needed establish support and implementation for the entire region.
  • Create and run reports from internal databases and systems. Ensure that outreach targets are met, and weekly reports are timely, clear, and effective in meeting leadership needs related to outreach reporting. Ensure accuracy and adherence to the latest policies and practices of the American Heart Association as they relate to fiscal and event financials.
  • Prepare and maintain fundraising materials and presentations as well as event collateral and marketing material.
  • Prepare and communicate schedules, meetings and ensure deadlines are met.
  • Perform administrative duties as required or requested.
  • May assist with collecting and depositing donations.
  • May assist with the on-site distribution of collateral materials and volunteer access to AHA systems.
  • Limited Travel may be required (less than 10%).

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • At least one year of work experience in outside sales, preferably in territory sales and/or nonprofit fundraising.
  • Assertiveness and confidence are required in obtaining meetings with a school decision-maker.
  • Excellent listening skills, including verbal and non-verbal communicating, active listening, negotiating, problem-solving and decision-making
  • Knowledge of school system is a plus
  • Presentation skills for small and large groups, specifically teachers, Principals, and sometimes, school-aged audiences
  • Highly effective organizational skills, time management, responsibility, leadership, and motivation
  • Ability to plan and work independently and thrive in a fast-paced and competitive environment
  • Ability to set and exceed aggressive dollar goals using skills and abilities in volunteer/customer relationship management
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
