REPORTS TO: Assistant Manager, Manager and Residential Director
PURPOSE OF POSITION:
There are several full-time or part-time, hourly positions. The Direct Support Professional will report directly to the Assistant Manager, Manager and/or Residential Manager. The ideal candidate must demonstrate the ability to work with individuals with autism, developmental disabilities, physical, behavioral or other needs in a group home setting. Benhaven seeks nurturing people who will provide care with dignity and respect as well as promote independence and community integration.Cover Letter and Resume may be requested at a later time.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following duties are assigned to this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
- Teaching life skills for independence.
- Encourage and assist in increasing socialization.
- Encourage and assist individuals with the pursuit of opportunities within their communities.
- Assist and provide opportunities for individuals to participate in recreational activities.
- Assist individuals in attending medical appointments.
- Complete all necessary documentation.
- Attend all training. (CPR, PMT, First Aid, etc.…)
- Complete routine housekeeping with the individuals of the home.
EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
- 2 years’ experience working with individuals with Autism is a plus, but willing to train enthusiastic, positive candidates.
- Must pass a variety of Background checks
- Must have a CT driver’s license
- A registered, insured vehicle which will pass a safety inspection in order to transport individuals in the community is a plus.
- Ability to become DDS med certified.
- Weekend, night and holiday availability a must.
