Director of Nursing (DON) BASIC FUNCTION

The Director of Nursing (RN) is responsible for the daily operational management of the Nursing Department and the quality of all on site nursing care rendered to the residents of the facility. This includes but is not limited to planning, organizing, leading, directing, and controlling the activities of nursing personnel in order to provide optimal resident care as economically as possible.

DON: NATURE AND SCOPE OF ESSENTIAL JOB TASKS AND PERFORMANCE CRITERIA:

• Communications: Responsible for communicating in a positive manner with residents, their families and visitors, in the resolution of problems or concerns.
• Policies and Procedures: Responsible for maintaining, implementing, reviewing, developing and revising policies and procedures.
• Residents Rights: Responsible for maintaining resident rights for privacy, treatment, schedules, property, civil tights and all other rights as designated by city, state and/or federal law.
• State and Federal Regulations: Responsible for compliance with state and federal regulatory licensure and certification requirements, including but not limited to quality assessment and assurance, medical records, and standards or care.
• Nursing Staff: Responsible for recruiting and hiring the nursing staff to maintain optimal number of nurses and nurse aides.
• Goals and Objectives: Responsible for assisting in the accomplishment of facility goals and objective, and departmental goals and objectives.
• Inventory: Responsible for the cost effective maintenance control, periodic evaluation and inventory levels.
• Infection Control: Will serve as the Infection Control Coordinator.

Director of Nursing (DON) Qualifications:

• Education: Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• License: Must have a current license to practice as an RN in the State of Ohio.
• Experience: Must have clinical experience in long term care; skilled nursing.
• Good Knowledge of Licensure and Certification rules and regulations
• Health: Must be in good general health, free of communicable diseases and emotionally stable.
• Physical Abilities Visual acuity to read reports and to start an I.V.

Ability to hear with or without use of prosthetics soft spoken words of resident’s intercom and alarms. Physical dexterity to start an I.V. Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, lift, and move intermittently. Ability to climb and descend tars, use elevator, and assist residents.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: Up to $110,000.00 per year
