Psychologists are encouraged to consider an available Director of Training and Research position with Liberty Healthcare at the Illinois Department of Human Services Treatment and Detention Facility.

As Director of Training and Research, your role will focus on leading an onsite clinical psychology training with forensic residents, which provides training to approximately three doctoral interns and three post-doctoral fellows.

The training program has been APPIC approved since 2008 and has been approved for an accreditation site visit by the American Psychological Association, anticipated in 2023.

As Director of Training and Research, you will enjoy a dynamic job description which will include:

• Direct supervision of interns and fellows

• Managing orientation and didactic training schedules

• Monitoring group and individual treatment provided by trainees

• Reviewing psychological evaluations

• Overseeing assessments

• Collaborating the program’s Clinical Director and lead clinicians

• Interviewing and selecting program applicants

This position is anticipated to become available in fall 2023.

The Illinois Department of Human Services Treatment and Detention Facility provides state of the art, sex offence specific treatment in a safe, structured residential environment. The residential program dovetails with a community-based program which provides continued treatment, supervision, case management and monitoring to residents who have been conditionally released into the community.

The program focuses on the individualized treatment needs of the residents and treats each resident respectfully, professionally and with dignity. We believe that all individuals can change. We strive to reduce risk to society by facilitating life-long behavioral change in residents.

Liberty Healthcare’s clinical team is comprised of over forty Psychologists, Clinical Social Workers, Counselors, Behavioral Technicians, Recreation Therapists and ancillary professionals – who serve the behavioral health needs of over five hundred people - within a secure residential environment.

Located in Rushville, Illinois – the facility is about an hour drive from Springfield and a few hour’s drive from Chicago, St. Louis and the Quad Cities.

You are a good fit for this position if you possess the following:

• Ph.D. or Psy.D. in clinical or counseling psychology

• Professional licensure as a Psychologist in Illinois or another state

• Knowledge of APPIC and APA criteria related to pre-doctoral and post-doctoral training

• Forensic mental health and/or sex offence treatment experience

Priority consideration will be given to applicants who have prior experience leading an on-site psychology training program or supervising APPIC trainees.
