About this Position:

Works in conjunction with all departments the Divisional EHS Manager develops and executes a comprehensive and continuously improving health and safety program with the goal of maintaining a compliant safe, and healthful work environment in all departments and at all work sites. The Divisional Health & Safety Manager is expected to have the knowledge and expertise necessary to offer mechanical and technical recommendations to assist in the resolution of identified issues.

Essential Functions:

  • Work positively and effectively with other departments maintaining big picture thinking to achieve company goals while promoting and ensuring a safe work environment.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive and effective environmental, health and safety management program, and ensure consistency where practical across plants and locations.
  • Work with Engineering and other departments on Planet Passionate initiatives and goals. Ensure company is positioned to meet environmental targets.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA and CalOSHA regulations, and all other related requirements.
  • Work with management in related departments to implement and maintain ISO 18001 and 45001 certifications. Assist departments with other ISO certification efforts where related.
  • Assist management with incident reporting and investigation.
  • Analyze health and safety data, report trends, make corrective and preventive recommendations, and support corrective efforts.
  • Provide expert guidance on best practices for identifying and reducing exposure to dangerous conditions.
  • Conduct risk assessments and establish/maintain JSA’s, JHA’s, and SWP’s.
  • Develop and implement inspection policies and procedures, and a schedule of routine inspections.
  • Tour and inspect facilities and communicate with workers to identify safety risks and concerns.
  • Liaise with other departments and employees to promote a culture of safe work practices and habits.
  • Liaise with Corporate EHS personnel to coordinate and support global programs, warnings, and other related efforts.
  • Maintain health and safety training program. Review and improve the program as needed.
  • Conduct and/or ensure completion of health and safety training to ensure compliance and maintain a healthy and safe workplace and further the ESH culture. Maintain EHS training logs.
  • Collaborate with OSHA and CalOSHA representatives and internal staff during formal plant audits and inspections; document corrective actions taken.
  • Maintain knowledge of hazard prevention and safety best practices, equipment, and developments.
  • Prepare reports, conduct safety briefings, be the company spokesperson for all safety issues, and research and answer all safety questions and concerns.
  • Monitor compliance with safety procedures.
  • Work with chemical, maintenance, and other departments to ensure that material safety data sheets are maintained and readily accessible when needed.
  • Maintains records of discharge of or employee exposure to hazardous waste and/or pollutants, as required.
  • Work with Human Resources on workers compensation cases and provide documentation or expertise as necessary.
  • Maintain OSHA 300 logs.
  • Maintain injury and incident reports, logs, and records.
  • Sit on each site Safety Committee and attend meetings in person or via phone/video conference.
  • Complete reporting as requested, necessary, and/or prudent.
  • Complete all assigned and recommended training.
  • Complies with all safety and company policies and procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education, Experience, and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Safety, Occupational Safety and Health, or related field required; Master’s degree desirable.
  • At least three years of related experience in a manufacturing environment required.
  • Certified Safety Professional status preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to identify unsafe situations or potentially unsafe situations.
  • Extensive knowledge of current company safety policies and applicable OSHA, CalOSHA, and other related standards and industry best practices.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

Salary
$80,000-$90,000 Based on Experience*

  • Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time. Ability to walk, bend, climb, crouch, lean, reach, and other physical movements as required to effectively and efficiently perform.
  • Work in conditions typical of a manufacturing environment, including noise, extreme temperatures and humidity, odors, and dust.
  • Effectively use a computer, monitor, keyboard, mouse, as well as commonly used and specialty software to complete necessary.
  • Finger dexterity, visual acuity, discernment of sounds, and color.
  • Must be reliable and dependable and able to work and manage priorities independently.
  • Ability to travel by automobile, airplane, and other modes of economy-class public transportation.

Working Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts, dusty conditions, high-noise environments, chemicals used in the process, and extreme temperatures. The facility is an industrial manufacturing plant.
