We're looking for passionate laboratory technicians who will support high complexity laboratory testing on patient specimens across various assays and platforms. This role will be performing quality control and quality assurance procedures while complying with all applicable local, state and federal laboratory requirements. The work requires excellent attention to detail, effective written and verbal communication skills, the ability to multitask and be flexible with tasks and schedules, and the ability to work independently in a team environment. This role requires on-site work at our San Francisco location as well as ability to work overtime and off-schedule days as needed.

What you will do:

  • Under the supervision of the General Supervisor and CLSs, the DNA Extraction Technician will prepare specimens and reagents for DNA/RNA extraction and process specimens using automated liquid-handling systems in accordance with the laboratory's standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • Process multiple specimen types (blood, saliva, buccal swab, plasma, etc) utilizing gDNA, cfDNA, and RNA extraction procedures.
  • Safely handle already-processed specimens according to SOPs for storage, retesting, troubleshooting, and discarding.
  • Maintain strict standards of quality and safety
  • Identify any issues that may adversely affect the quality of test results and reporting these to appropriate representatives to ensure prompt resolution
  • Assist in general cleaning and upkeep of laboratory
  • Maintain laboratory supplies and inventory
  • Review standard operating procedures (SOPs) and provide input as assigned
  • Assist with quality control and quality assurance activities
  • Maintain laboratory equipment and instruments according to SOPs
  • Participate in continuing education
  • Other duties as assigned

Who you are:

  • 1+ years of hands-on experience in a molecular biology lab preferred
  • Basic laboratory skills including sample handling in a BSL-2 environment.
  • Clinical laboratory experience and/or automated liquid-handler experience preferred but not required
  • Ability to work the full-time schedule, which may include weekend days or off-schedule requests when needed.
  • Bachelor's degree in clinical laboratory studies or equivalent science related studies

This salary range is an estimate, and the actual salary may vary based on a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience and location. California Pay Range

$30—$33 USD
