Environmental Manager Job at HF Sinclair
Basic Function
HF Sinclair in Artesia, NM is seeking an Environmental Manger. This position directs environmental operations for plant and ensures compliance with all applicable local, state and federal environmental regulations, practices and procedures.
Job Duties
- Develops, modifies and executes company environmental policies
- Reviews and prepares compliance schedules and inspection reports to ensure compliance with all related and pertinent environmental regulatory agencies
- Oversees accurate and timely submission of reports as required by permits
- Plans, manages, recommends, and implements policies and procedures related to environmental protection and security of HEP and HollyFrontier’s property and assets
- Oversees operation and maintenance of refinery practices to ensure regulatory compliance including transportation related regulatory compliance
- Oversees all aspects of operations for compliance with air, water & waste regulations and permits
- Communicates with regulators, politicians, legislators and government technicians, as well as the news media as required
- Follows and is knowledgeable of changes in laws and regulations and influences drafting and implementation where and when appropriate
- Manages budget development and oversight for all environmental aspects for the refinery
Special assignments or tasks assigned to the employee by their superior, as determined from time to time in their sole and complete discretion.
Experience
A minimum of 10 years of related experience is required.
Education Level
A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in a related field is required.
Required Skills
Certification in Hazardous Waste Operator, Spill Response may be required depending on assignment. Significant creativity and latitude. Proficient with spreadsheet, presentation and word processing applications; knowledge of laws, pronouncements and regulations pertaining to environmental permitting and operations; excellent planning, interpersonal, organizational, leadership, analytical, ability to effectively communicate with others, both written and verbal communication; excellent ability to present publicly, ability to perform complex mathematical calculations, and advanced reading and writing skills.
Supervisory/Managerial Responsibility
Responsible for the direct supervision of approximately six employees: typically Supervisors, senior individual contributors, environmental permit technical contractors, and highly technical consultants in the environmental area.
Work Conditions
Office based with occasional field visits, and with up to 20% travel by land and air require. Petroleum refinery, warehouse/plant environment, out-of-doors environment, and driver based environment, including but not limited to chemicals, pressure vessels, tanks, and rotating equipment. Subject to varying weather and road conditions.
