Position Summary:

Perform general and clerical duties by preparing, compiling and maintaining patient records on assigned Unit. Acts as a patient advocate, informing patient and families of delays, arranging for family nutritional needs, assisting with patient comfort measures, etc.

Duties Summary: (not all inclusive)

• Works with and assists physicians and nurses and provides technical support for patient care
• Reports on the condition of the patient to the appropriate supervisor and other staff members
• Prepares requisitions accurately for tests, including initials, diagnosis, room #
• Inputs work orders accurately into the computer system
• Maintains physician call schedule
• Performs Accu-Check Glucose testing as directed and reports results to appropriate nursing staff.
• Cleans and stocks carts, rooms, and changes linen, as required
• Prepares charts upon admission and discharge using proper procedure.
• Obtains and records I & O's, collects specimens etc. on patients.
• Assists with obtaining and documentation of vital signs and placement of oxygen saturation, cardiac monitoring, and non-invasive blood pressure monitoring systems
• Maintains use of appropriate medical equipment and supplies

• BLS (CPR) Certification (required)
• Must be at least 18 years old (required)
• Ability to successfully pass completion of Glucose Monitoring class/test (required)
• Physical ability to work ,bend, lift, stand for 12 hour shifts (required)
• Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English (required)
• Computer/Clerical Skills (required)
• C.N.A. Certification (preferred)
• EMT Certification (preferred)
• Previous patient care experience (preferred)
