DESCRIPTION

Uses professional concepts. Applies organizational policies and procedures to resolve routine issues. Works on problems of limited scope. Follows standard practices and procedures in analyzing situations or data from which answers can be readily obtained. Contacts are primarily internal to the department or unit.

Reporting to the Senior Finance & Budget Manager, the incumbent is responsible for supporting the reporting and execution of VCMS’s central resources through reporting and transactional efforts. Maintains good recordkeeping of the organization’s commitments and facilitates the allocations from beginning to end. With direction, analyzes spending patterns, projects future performance, and prepares periodic and ad-hoc reports as needed. Plays a critical role in supporting the accounting operation of the Budget and Finance Office, especially during fiscal close. Monitors financial transactions, reconciles, and audits ledgers, and provides regular analysis of assigned funds. Utilizes campus systems and databases (e.g. OFC, UCPath,) to reconcile and troubleshoot fiscal errors, partnering with appropriate internal and external units as needed. Assist with gift and credit card processing, merchant account administration, cellular and inventory audit, and a variety of special projects as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Basic knowledge of finance policies, practices, and systems. Knowledge of accounting and financial reporting. Ability to apply financial concepts to processes.

  • Acquiring ability to gather reasonably retrievable information to organize and perform basic financial analysis assignments. Must have the ability to identify issues; analyze data; develop, recommend, and implement solutions.

  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing. Must have demonstrated ability to clearly and concisely convey technical information, both written and verbal, to a broad audience.

  • Basic proficiency using spreadsheet and database software in financial analysis, fiscal management, and financial reports. Demonstrated experience using computer spreadsheets and database applications for report generation andanalysis, with intermediate-to-advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel functions.

  • Basic interpersonal skills; broad service orientation and critical thinking skills; and attention to detail. Under management guidance, uses organizational skills to multi-task in a high-volume environment. Ability to present opportunities and information in a tactful and diplomatic manner, with consistency in exercising independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.

  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities. Strong initiative and ability to work and appropriately prioritize independently ina dynamic environment.

  • Ability to function as a member of a team. Demonstrated ability to work within a team framework, participating in group discussions regarding systems, procedures, and goals of the units. Proven strong teamwork attitude to independently and willingly assist in other areas of the SIO Director's Office as needed.

  • Basic knowledge and understanding of internal control practices and their impact on protecting University resources.

  • Ability to effectively process significant volumes of information with careful attention to detail.

  • Demonstrated ability to learn, interpret and apply complex policies and regulations.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $37,900 - $85,300 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $18.15 - $40.85

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
