Financial Controller

The Coffee Oasis is a Christian non-profit organization, serving all youth experiencing hurt and homelessness. We are one organization with multiple locations in Bremerton, Port Orchard, Poulsbo, Kingston, and Tacoma, WA. The mission of The Coffee Oasis is restoring community through compassionate youth programs and coffee businesses. PURPOSE

The Controller is responsible for planning, managing, and coordinating all accounting operations, ensuring the highest level of accuracy and integrity of The Coffee Oasis financial statements.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Create and uphold an annual budget, alongside the Operations Director and Executive Director, and achieve budget objectives by analyzing variances and initiating corrective actions when needed
  • Monitor AP and AR aging and follow up with vendors and clients as needed
  • Supervise the Bookkeeper and Finance Administrator, offering instruction, correction, and additional tasks as needed
  • Regularly review and monitor all general ledger activity for accuracy and compliance with donor requests and grant allowability
  • Review and post café daily sales entries
  • Review monthly journal entries, such as prepaids, intercompany income, unearned revenue, and payouts from CRM (Neon)
  • Process, review, and submit payroll using Paychex, and record payroll entries
  • Manage all communication with external auditors and the annual fiscal independent audit
  • Manage and monitor online banking account and user permissions, and make monthly visa payments
  • File personal property filings for multiple locations
  • Create project and program budgets for grant applications as needed, in coordination with the Grant Writer, Senior Director of Programs, and Executive Director
  • Prepare monthly invoices for reimbursable grant contracts, and record grant revenue
  • Complete monthly drawdowns for Federal grants
  • Prepare monthly financial reports for the Executive Director and Board of Directors, including key performance indicators and summarize insights from the financial statements
  • Guide financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies and procedures
  • Evaluate and assess internal controls and make changes as needed to safeguard the organization’s assets
  • Meet semi-annually with the Board Treasurer
  • Additional responsibilities as needed or requested

QUALIFICATIONS

  • In full agreement and aligns with the core values, mission, vision, and beliefs of The Coffee Oasis.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in accounting or finance
  • 5+ years experience in non-profit accounting
  • Management experience preferred
  • Experience using FastFund and/or Paychex (preferred)

  • 40 hours per week
