StarCare is in search of a Forensic Case Manager to join StarCare's psychiatric care team working inside the Lubbock County Detention Center.

Work is performed under the general supervision of the Psychiatric Care Team Coordinator, with broad latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. This position is a combination of law enforcement coordination and social work necessary to meet the needs of in the Lubbock County Detention Center.

Responsibilities include:

  • Provide case management to identified inmates at the Lubbock County Detention Center.
  • Work effectively with LCDC staff, inmates, and outside support agencies as necessary.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of consumer information in accordance with StarCare and LCDC policies.
  • Completion of specific duties and responsibilities as designated by the coordinator and director. Designation of duties will be determined by current needs of the consumer population.
  • Provision of crisis intervention services to consumers as referred and deemed appropriate for the caseload. Crisis intervention may require consultation with LCDC staff regarding management/treatment concerns, referral, and/or mental health follow-up.
  • Completion of Clinical Service Reports/notes of consumers assigned in a timely manner.
  • Completion of regular reports of the employee's activities in accordance requests of the Forensic Mental Health Director.
  • Provision of support and/or monitoring of patient's mental condition for assignment to a less intensive caseload.
  • Participation in staff meetings, LCDC meetings, and training as necessary.
  • Participation in specialized clinical services and/or program development activities in a professional, timely manner providing these duties have been assumed with the mutual agreement of the coordinator and Forensics Director.
  • Maintain accountability for services provided through timely and accurate recording of activities.
  • Compliance with contract employee standards of LCDC.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain security clearance at LCDC.
  • Must be able to apply principles of critical thinking to a variety of practical and emergent situations and accurately follow standardized procedures that may call for deviations.
  • Must be able to apply sound judgment beyond a specific set of instructions and apply knowledge to different factual situations.
  • Must be able to work under stress on a regular or continuous basis.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Schedule:
Monday through Friday, 40 hours a week flexible hours between 8:00am - 4:00pm, with flexibility to meet the needs of the program.

  • Graduation from an accredited four (4) year college or university with major course work in a Human Services Field, (Sociology, Psychology, Family Studies, etc.), and two (2) years of full-time experience in a related field, required.
  • Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) or LPC-Intern is preferred.
  • Knowledge and skill in operating office equipment (phone, fax, copier, etc.) and personal computer with Microsoft Office products is required.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
  • Candidate must have a valid Texas driver’s license, liability car insurance and be insurable under Agency insurance.
  • Must be able to clear and maintain Lubbock County Detention Center security clearance.
  • Must pass pre-hire drug screen and criminal background check.
