Parts Counter Job Desciption:
An automotive parts counter person is responsible for customer service and retail sales at an Franchised Dealer Auto Parts Department. In this position, your responsibilities include selling parts and taking inventory of stock in storage and, if necessary, on shelves. You also help customers and clients make orders via catalog for parts that you do not have in stock. You may need to deliver price quotes over the phone and offer status updates on shipments of parts. Your duties may also involve offering basic advice about parts selection.
Parts Counter Responsibilities:
The qualifications for an automotive parts counterperson include a high school diploma and knowledge of auto parts and auto repair. Employers may provide entry-level employees with on-the-job training. However, to increase your chances of finding a job in this career, you can gain some knowledge of auto parts by taking auto repair classes in high school, at a postsecondary trade school, or via a community education program. Employers may also seek applicants who have prior experience or skills in customer service or retail.
Parts Counter Requirements
We’d prefer to hire an individual who has some formal training in automotive parts. But may also hire the right candidate without this qualification, train and certify if they’re able to carry out the major tasks of a Parts Counter Sales without needing supervision.
