Essential Duties:

• Thoroughly clean, disinfect, deodorize, and otherwise service restrooms and kitchens.
• Clean floors - sweep, mop, scrub, vacuum, remove stains, strip, seal, finish, and polish.
• Collect and dispose of trash and recycling.
• Clean, dust, and polish furniture, fixtures, windows, walls, and doors. Remove cobwebs.
• Maintain clean and safe walkways, including collecting litter from outdoor areas.
• Monitor building security by checking for unlocked doors/windows.
• Interface with all visitors to the facility, providing hospitality and diplomatic problem- solving.
• Notify Congregational Administrator of needed janitorial supplies.
• Maintain clean and well-stocked storage areas.
• Perform preventative maintenance and minor repairs in and around facility.
• Provide room set up and clean up for church programs and outside events.
• Follow safety regulations, using appropriate Personal Protective Equipment.
• Ask for help, communicating limitations, and requesting proper supplies and equipment.
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Minimum Requirements

• At least 2 years working in custodial or maintenance services for a multi--use facility.
• Communicates well, including ability to read and write English.
• Legally authorized to work in the United States.
• Must undergo background check with LiveScan fingerprinting. AB506 restricts a church from hiring anyone with a felony assualt.

Other background demonstrating application of the following knowledge and, skills:

• Appreciation for ecumenical mainline Protestant theological and liturgical traditions.

• Ability to organize and prioritize tasks, and to manage work time effectively.

• Ability to interact with people of all ages in person and on the phone.

• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing; to compose accurate hard and soft copy communication pieces; to explain job expectations to employees and volunteers; to respond to suggestions and complaints in effective and appropriate ways.

• Ability to use basic office machinery and computer applications, eg. internet, email, and online calendar.

• Ability to use basic tools (hammer, screwdriver, etc.) and perform easy maintenance tasks.

• Ability to maintain confidential information reliably.

• Skill in collaborating with Church staff and lay leaders to support the mission of the Church.

• Demonstrated problem-solving skills that result in a harmonious completion of responsibilities and that encourage cooperation and support among all who serve the Church.

• Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with persons of all ages, races, religions, sexual orientation, gender expression and identity.
