Position Summary:
The General Manager is responsible for coordinating all operations to achieve company and site objectives. The General Manager contributes to business results through effective leadership, planning and execution in the following areas: Operations, Quality, Warehouse, Inventory, Planning, Human Resources and Maintenance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversees the day to day management of the site – Production, Warehousing, Maintenance, Quality and Inventory personnel directly and through subordinate managers and/or supervisors in a continuous improvement environment.
- Aligns strategic site planning, performance goals and objectives with the business unit objectives.
- Develops a manufacturing strategy to optimize available resources to deliver the quality and quantity required.
- Ensures all company improvement plans, regulatory, external and internal, requirements are met.
- Prepares and maintains long and short-range plans, objectives and budgets for facility success.
- Creates and communicates a facility vision that complies with Company objectives.
- Fosters the site level relationship with the customer while adhering to their requirements and inventory needs.
- Ensures objectives are in place for all site employees and audits the accountability of those employees against those established objectives.
- Supports Quality programs which instill personal accountability for accuracy, consistency and completeness for all operations and departments.
- Fosters good relations with the community, government agencies, customers and other external contacts.
- Drive accountability and continuous improvement through training, SOPs and workflows as needed to proactively improve quality, efficiency, and standardization.
- Represents the company and site in communications with Regulatory Agencies and other external agencies.
- Monitors operations for conformance to financial objectives. Verifies the integrity of all financial reporting and financial controls in accordance with corporate policies and guidelines.
- Provide training and development to site personnel and management team to insure succession
Required Experience & Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Supply Chain or Business
- 10 years of experience in Logistics, Supply Chain or Manufacturing environment
- 10 years of experience in an operational leadership role
- Understanding CFR (code of federal relations) and solid understanding of safety
- Excellent presentation and consensus building skills.
- Proven record in change and business transformation
- Motivational, “lead by example” management style with focus on respect, integrity, equability, and trust.
- Ability to lead and mentor staff to achieve significant results
- Ability to influence, negotiate and gain commitment at all organization levels
- Possess high professional ethics, good judgment, and ability to take decisive action
- Superb communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills
Work Environment:
This position requires work in both an office setting and a warehouse setting. Work often requires “after hours” communication or extended work hours, including weekend or evening work. Working conditions in the warehouse setting may or may not be environmentally controlled resulting in hot or cold temperatures. Employee will work in an area where there is moving warehouse equipment.
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to: stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop; kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
