JOB SUMMARY
The Golf Member Services Team Member will be expected to provide the highest quality customer service for members and guests; help the player/s with club selection if asked, clean clubs and balls following shots, encourage the golfer and advise him or her about strategy and the course’s challenges and obstacles; provide bag, golf cart and range services to members and guests.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Checks golf carts for tire pressure, brake operation and other safety considerations.
- Brings golf carts from cart barn to cart staging area outside Golf Pro Shop;
- Places golf bags from bag storage room onto golf club staging area.
- Providing players the full-service experience by properly staging carts, carrying their golf bags to and from their carts, cleaning clubs, Greeting Members and Guests as they arrive and calling them by name (e.g. Mr./Mrs./Dr. Smith, etc.) ensuring all supplies are clean and fully stocked.
- Ensures staging of clean and detailed carts and that all chargers are working properly.
- Greeting servicing players after nine or eighteen holes.
- Serves beverages to players and guests.
- Cleans golf balls and clubs as needed during play.
- Transports range balls to each end of range and fills appropriate containers.
- Places baskets of balls at evenly spaced intervals on range.
- Operates ball picker on range to retrieve balls.
- Washes all range balls daily.
- Removes bags from golf carts and returns bags to assigned rack in bag storage room.
- Returns golf carts to cart shelter; removes towels, pencils, score cards, tees, drink cans, etc., from golf carts and saves reusable items;
- Checks carts for damage; washes golf carts; parks carts in cart barn and connects charger cable.
- Advises Pro Shop of clubs found on the course and destined for the lost and found.
- Maintains cleanliness and order in Bag Storage Room.
- Rakes bunkers.
- Keeps the Cart barn area clean and neat.
- Tracks, locates and retrieves lost or errant balls.
- Protects players’ clubs from damage.
- Performs other appropriate tasks as assigned by the First Assistant Golf Professional.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
- Good attitude and a highly motivated self-starter.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Extremely strong communication skills using spoken and written words in a professional manner to members, guests and staff.
- Understanding of the game of golf, its rules and the psychology of the game.
- Understanding of course etiquette.
- Knowledge of golf terms and their meanings.
- Ability to recognize course markers, analyze terrain and determine yardage.
- Must be able to handle stress in a healthy and professional manner.
- Must be able to complete tasks in an accurate and timely manner.
- Has the ability to learn new technologies as necessary.
- Knowledge of and ability to perform required role during emergency situations.
- Ability to keep information confidential and operate with honesty and integrity.
LICENSES AND SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Valid driver’s license.
- Alcoholic beverage certification (TABC Certificate).
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must be able to stand; walk; bend; and use hands to finger, handle or feel.
- Must be able to reach with hands and arms; talk and hear.
- Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
- Must be able to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time.
- Must be able to moderate noise level in the work environment.
- Must be able to handle hot and cold interior and outdoor conditions.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
