Summary:

The Guest Experience Associate is responsible for the operation of the Guest Service Facility/Visitor Center. Since the Associate is typically the guest's first interaction with Zoo New York, they are responsible for consistently providing a welcoming and positive experience.

Essential Function:

  • Responsible for Gift Shop operations including maintaining merchandising standards, executing daily business procedures, monitoring store inventory, implementing loss prevention procedures, and providing customer service.
  • Responsible for Cafe operations including maintaining stocking procedures and merchandising standards, preparing menu items, maintaining kitchen and dining facility, and providing customer service all in accordance with the New York State health code.
  • Responsible for maintenance of zoo membership program including processing membership sales, updating member information database, and encouraging revenue generation by sale of new and renewal memberships.
  • Responsible for admissions desk operations including greeting visitors and collection admissions, receiving and directing incoming phone calls, take reservations for birthday parties and provide information about zoo services, exhibits, events and activities to the general public.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Maintains cleanliness and upkeep of all guest services facilities
  • Performs additional tasks as assigned by Director of Guest Experience

Qualifications:

  • Always maintaining an enthusiastic positive attitude.
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Understanding of retail merchandising, inventory and sales procedures.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and point-of-sale software helpful
  • Must be available to fulfill shift hours 9:30 am to 5:30 pm, will include weekends and event nights.
  • Must be able to lift 25 lbs.
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to innovate and think creatively
  • Ability to work efficiently while unsupervised

Physical Demands:

  • Physical demands for this position are medium.
  • The employee is regularly required to stand for long periods, sit, walk, stoop, kneel, and balance.
  • The Employee is occasionally required to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • The Employee is occasionally required to use step ladders.

Job Types: Part-time, Temporary

Pay: $14.20 per hour
