POSITION SUMMARY:
This position will be part of HES department in the Industrial Hygiene team located in Garyville, Louisiana. This person will be responsible for managing a number of the industrial hygiene related programs (e.g. exposure control programs, exposure assessments methods, emergency response, etc.), oversight support of specific operating units, and completion of field industrial hygiene work. The candidate will work directly with HES peers, Operations, Maintenance, and Engineering teams. This position provides the opportunity to interact with all levels of management and employees in areas of regulatory compliance, industrial hygiene, and emergency response.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Conducts exposure assessments, industrial hygiene monitoring, indoor air quality investigations, response to employee concerns, air monitoring during emergency responses, and recommending corrective action to minimize exposure risk to employees and contractors during routine operations, turnarounds, and capital projects.
2. Collects, reviews, documents, and summarizes exposure assessment and monitoring data to comply with legal and corporate requirements utilizing the industrial hygiene databases. Identifies potential health stressors, and determines the need for, and effectiveness of, exposure control methods.
3. Prepares and maintains standards, procedures, and training for industrial hygiene related topics to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and industry standards.
4. Maintains and updates exposure based medical surveillance programs.
5. Manages and maintains industrial hygiene equipment and associated software.
6. Conducts industrial hygiene audits following the MPC collaborative audit process.
7. Serves as Corporate and local subject matter expert in the areas of chemical, physical, and biological agent exposure control, emergency response air monitoring techniques, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and Industrial Hygiene sampling equipment.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or GED required with 8 years of relevant experience, or Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Hygiene, safety, engineering, or related science with 5 years of related experience.
- Ability to manage complex projects with limited support.
- Ability to identify risk and implement mitigations based on knowledge of the business.
- A Transportation Worker Identification Card (TWIC) is required upon hire.
