Industrial Maintenance Technician - Rochester Hills, MI

PURPOSE AND DESCRIPTION:

To provide technical duties and coordination in the Manufacturing Department to install, maintain and

inspect machines, electrical equipment, assembly fixtures, deploy hand/power tools to ensure that

industrial machines and tools remain available and operational for manufacturing production. Industrial

maintenance technicians should be familiar with hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems as well as

computers.

Essential Functions:

  • Installs, repairs, and maintains machinery by completing preventive maintenance.
  • Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation.
  • Complete equipment repairs, as issues arise, to prevent production bottlenecks.
  • Dismantles machinery and removes/replaces defective parts.
  • Maintains inventories of equipment parts and supplies by checking stock and placing orders.
  • Train production workers on routine preventive maintenance.
  • Provides mechanical maintenance information by answering questions and requests.
  • Prepares maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  • Maintains a safe and clean work environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Special project assignments relating to manufacturing and testing of production in the Robot Factory.
  • Develop specifications for “outside” services, preventive maintenance, and maintenance on capital
  • equipment along with order creation to invoice approval (Safety Kleen, Lifts etc).

Reference Document Job Description & Responsibility

  • Coordinate with Manufacturing Engineering for work center process improvements, such as installing
  • new tooling, fixtures, fencing, safeguarding, lift assists and 5S tool boards.
  • Inspect and maintain manufacturing tech work center hand tool carts and workstation tool kits.
  • Coordinate with Facilities for high-power electrical and utility drops required for manufacturing.
  • Must be able to audit all areas of manufacturing to verify project completion or quality of services
  • performed in those areas, which can include elevated areas.
  • Take ownership to ensure that recognized production problems are appropriately resolved.
  • Respond in an appropriate manner to all unsafe practices.
  • Participate as an active member on the Safety Committee.
  • Reliable, consistent attendance required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

1. Skills/Knowledge

  • Ability to read and understand construction documents, and blueprints.
  • Working knowledge of hydraulic equipment, electrical circuits, and equipment and tools.
  • Strong organization and planning skills.
  • Strong communication skills, verbal and written.
  • Knowledge of MIOSHA regulatory standards, Safety Data Sheets, Personal Protective
  • Equipment, etc.
  • Basic AutoCAD skills or working knowledge.
  • Working knowledge of environmental compliance issues.
  • General knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Preventative Maintenance Program (HIPPO)

2. Experience/Education

  • Bachelor’s degree or associate Degree in an Industrial Technology discipline, with experience related to skills and knowledge requirements
  • Industrial Maintenance Technician – Certificate or an apprenticeship.
  • Experience with ISO Quality Systems

3. Physical Effort And Dexterity

  • Lifting of up to 50 pounds of material
  • Operation of equipment and proper use of hand tools
  • Must be in good physical condition and able to lift heavy loads, climb ladders, and work
  • under extreme conditions.

4. Visual Acuity, Hearing, Speaking

  • Must be able to climb ladders and work in elevated areas as needed.
  • Good visual acuity, hearing and speaking is required.

5. Environment and Scheduling

  • Able to work in all environments, when necessary
  • Able to provide after-hours coverage as scheduled and/or dictated by circumstances.
  • Willing to work occasional overtime when required to meet special deadlines in response to
  • special project or customer requirements.
