Position Summary
The Department of Communication Studies in the College of Communication and Information Sciences at The University of Alabama is seeking dynamic teachers for a faculty position as full-time, non-tenure-track, one-year renewable contract Instructor of Communication Studies to begin August 16, 2023.
Ideal candidates will have a demonstrated record of excellence in teaching and service within communication studies. The successful candidate will be able to provide quality instruction to distance learning populations. Appointments to the faculty of The University of Alabama are based on the personnel requirements of the University’s academic programs and on the goal of achieving and maintaining excellence in its teaching, research, and service/academic citizenship activities.
Responsibilities:
- Teach four courses each semester in a range of communication studies courses at the undergraduate level in both online and face to face modalities.
- Establish and maintain a record of teaching excellence for distance learning and main campus students.
- Assist with programmatic duties in the distance learning undergraduate programs.
- Mentor undergraduate students in progress to degree.
- Serve on department and college committees as appropriate.
- Completed M.A. in Communication (or a related field with at least 18 credit hours in communication) by August 15, 2023.
- Record of teaching excellence in both online and face-to-face environments.
- Qualifications to teach at the undergraduate level and potential to teach at the graduate level.
- Ability to be an active and involved member of a diverse and collaborative faculty team.
