We currently have an opportunity to join our team of talented and diverse Faculty and Staff as an Irrigation Technician.

Required Qualifications: This position requires a high school diploma or GED and possession of valid Florida Driver's License. This position also requires two (2) years of recent and verifiable commercial irrigation systems, lawn maintenance and/or turf field experience. Candidate must have own transportation to report to other College locations as assigned. Applicant must be Forklift certified within one (1) year of employment.

Desired Qualifications: A background in maintaining athletic fields is preferred.

This is a full-time, non-exempt position with an hourly rate of $14.57 with an approximate annual amount of $30,300.

Working Hours: Normal working hours are 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Please note: This position may be permanently relocated to any of the Daytona State campuses as needed. A flexible work schedule is in effect and must be able to work days/nights/weekends/holidays/ overtime as needed and be able to report during emergencies situations (leaks, storms, hurricanes, tornadoes, etc.).

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintains, repairs and installs irrigation systems at all College locations. Installs pipe, valves and heads. Locates breaks or leaks in lines by zones.
• Maintains all College feature water fountains.
• Maintains plants by weeding and spraying with pesticides and fertilizers. Plants shrubbery, trees and flowers. Prunes and trims trees and shrubbery.
• Operates blower to clear debris from sidewalks, parking lots and other areas.
• Performs maintenance and minor repairs of grounds equipment. Informs supervisor of need for advanced maintenance or replacement of equipment.
• Drives College vehicles and operates golf carts and light trucks to retrieve/return supplies, equipment, tools, etc.
• Attends staff meetings to exchange information. Attends professional seminars and/or conferences to improve professional skills.
• Gathers, verifies, and maintains information to support periodic and special reports documenting activities and events for assigned area.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: This position requires walking, standing, stooping, stretching, pushing, pulling, reaching and lifting all of the time, exerting at least 20 pounds of force on a recurring basis. The successful candidate must be able to run equipment pertaining to turf management of athletic facilities. This position also requires the ability to use machines, tools or equipment such as trenchers, tractors, light trucks, light equipment, mowers, forklift or power saws. This position will experience exposure to outdoor temperatures.
