Position Summary: The Laboratory Technician will provide support to the Raleigh laboratory facility team. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a process analytical chemistry environment. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

· Wear proper PPE and gain familiarity with chemicals used throughout the process, their hazards, and the appropriate response protocol in the event of an emergency

· Maintain laboratory equipment in working condition

· Maintain laboratory equipment calibrations certifications

· Perform light maintenance on laboratory equipment

· Oversee contract maintenance and service requirements on laboratory equipment

· Perform laboratory testing on all grease plant related chemical processes inputs and outputs and provide data to Plant Supervision/Management

· Perform wastewater laboratory testing on a variety of POTW permit parameters such as pH, COD and provide chemical or process data to Plant Supervision/Management

· Process incoming customer samples to quantify and qualify stream characters

· Analyze inbound grease load samples to quantify and qualify stream characteristics

· Input analytical data points into computer system and other related process monitoring programs

· Maintain awareness of grease process issues, process settings, and quality to assist production throughout plant

· Perform chemical inventories, and request supply orders as required

· Provide relief support of grease processing and plant operations, as necessary

· Collect required samples, when necessary, to perform analytical evaluations on processes

· Perform routine analytical checks on soft water system

· Complete all daily housekeeping requirements, quality and process checks, answer questions related to analytical data generated

· Maintain logbooks with production issues and corrective actions

Qualifications:

· High School Diploma or GED is required. Bachelor’s degree in related field is preferred

· Minimum of one (1) year experience in a process analytical chemistry environment is required

· Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite is required

· Ability to work rotating shifts to include days, nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime is required; Must be available to work various shifts if needed and be able to cover absences or provide additional support

· Climbing Stairs/Stand/Walk/Reach/Pull/Bend/Move throughout the plant on feet 80-100% of shift

· Working in extreme outdoor environmental conditions

· Experience with the operation of laboratory analytical devices associated with grease and waste qualifications processes

· Strong planning, organizational, & time-management skills and the ability to prioritize

· Must be a self-starter and driven to succeed

· Excellent communication skills

· Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities
