Timber Products Inspection, Inc. (TP) is an independent, third-party wood products inspection, testing, and consulting company with corporate headquarters located in Peachtree City GA, laboratory facilities located in Conyers GA, and field representatives located throughout the United States as well as internationally. This position is based out of our laboratory facilities in Conyers GA. TP’s laboratories offer three different testing disciplines (Physical, Analytical and Biomass Laboratories). Our current opening is for physical laboratory. Laboratory technicians can transition between laboratories as opportunities present if qualified.

Physical Laboratory – Provides testing for various wood products such as lumber, structural use panels, wall panels, pallets, LVL, CLT, glulam, and other wood-based products. It also tests the performance of adhesives and various other products that support construction (e.g., nails, fasteners, etc.).

Physical laboratories include:

• Building walls and other frame like members to represent testing for walls, floors and roof construction. Testing is also performed for adhesives to determine exposure types and or grade.
• Testing involves the uses of power equipment table saw, planers and other hand tools.

Job Summary:

Laboratory Technicians are hourly positions that work under the direction of a Laboratory Manager. Laboratory technicians are tasked with a variety of responsibilities many of which are listed below.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Receive/Log incoming materials
• Preparing samples for testing (measuring & marking)
• Conducting structural tests
• Maintaining equipment
• Uses of Computers
• Maintaining laboratory cleanliness
• Individual responsibilities may change at any time with or without notice

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Ability to work as part of an overall laboratory team that regularly shifts to accommodate client needs, and expected deadlines
• Attention to detail, multi-tasking, and analytical problem-solving skills
• Proficient with Microsoft Office 365/excel
• Ability to operate table saw and other hand tools
• Ability to express ideas clearly in both oral and written communication
• Must be able to lift 40 - 60 pounds regularly
• Requires standing or walking much of the day in lab and warehouse spaces

Education:

Wood Science or construction skills are preferred. Having a high school diploma is mandatory.

Job Type: Full-time:

Starting Pay: $18.26 per hour (based on $38,000/yr) for skilled professionals.

Work schedule is most commonly Monday – Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm. Schedules may be staggered to facilitate equipment uptime or weekend testing obligations.

Some overtime.
