Smith Excavating, LLC., is hiring for a Landscaping Supervisor
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
Quality Work: Produce thorough, high-quality work with minimal errors. Seek feedback, make corrections as needed. Identify problems and solve them. Strive to improve processes. Work collaboratively with co-workers to implement systematic changes. Keep current on changes and be competent with all technology necessary to perform job.
Productivity: Complete assigned work in a timely fashion. Utilize slow periods productively. Produce amount and volume at expected speed. Must have knowledge and experience of heavy equipment operations. Must understand the Environmental impact.
Communication: Clearly convey oral and written communication. Keep others informed of activities and problems in timely manner. Listen well; respond appropriately and respectfully. Must be able to use current technology for communications as well as access locations, i.e. Google Earth and SiteDocs.
Teamwork/Ability to Work with Others: Demonstrate ability to work in a positive manner with co-workers and/or members with differing backgrounds, opinions, capabilities, etc. Willingly share skills, competencies, and knowledge with others. Establish and maintain strong, effective working relationships. Contribute effectively to group efforts. Promote harmony; agree to disagree without damaging relationships. Maintain excellent attendance and provide additional assistance after normal working hours when needed. Be reliable, prepared and accept responsibility for work and actions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND JOB REQUIREMENTS
Strong knowledge of electric transmission and/or gas distribution systems.
Understanding of the Environmental impact of the job scope.
4 years’ experience in a leadership position preferred.
Must have proven leadership and project management skills. Organizational skills; including attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
Knowledge of work management/workflow principles.
Competency in Microsoft Office software applications (Word, Excel, and Outlook) and the ability to learn other software applications.
Must have considerable skill in effectively dealing with a variety of people under difficult circumstances.
Vast knowledge in staking sheets, work orders, service orders, mapping, tagging, and other departmental processes.
Mental Demands/Working Conditions:
Ability to work independently with minimal guidance and supervision
Ability to manage diverse work functions while balancing and adjusting priorities in
accordance with changing requirements
Ability to respond quickly and effectively to a rapidly changing work environment
Ability to understand personal and departmental role in the bigger organization picture, and to respond as an effective team member
Ability to work under pressure.

FREQUENT (up to 66%): standing, walking, manual dexterity, seeing distant, seeing, reading, range of motion, hearing-speech range, depth perception, climbing stairs, lifting up to 20 lbs.
CONTINUOUS (up to 100%): Sense of Touch, Gripping, Seeing, Carrying, Pulling, Walking Safely
Due to the inherently dangerous nature of the industry and requirements to work with or around hazardous equipment, employees must have sufficient eyesight to judge distance/coordination of equipment and tools, be able to maintain attention and concentration for extended periods of time, be able to withstand exposure to all kinds of weather while completing work assignments, be able to wear personal protective equipment as necessary, be able to enter and exit a vehicle numerous times a day, have the endurance necessary to traverse various terrain, be capable of performing job duties throughout a standard 10- or 12-hour day, be able to communicate with others, read, write, and comprehend written/verbal job instructions and information, and communicate & handle confrontations professionally. This is mainly out of town work with overnight stays Monday - Friday but will be home on weekends. We (Smith Excavating LLC) pay per diem and hotel cost. We (Smith Excavating LLC) promote a Drug-Free Workplace, you will be expected to pass a drug screen and background check upon your hire date and subject to random drug testing.
