Position Summary

The Lead, Data Privacy Program Manager works as a member of the Data Privacy/Ethics and Compliance team for Bridgestone Americas. We are a small group of supportive privacy and legal professionals who are driven to help others by building and implementing programs that support our organizational values, employees and business objectives. The Lead, Data Privacy Program Manager will add value in numerous ways, including helping with the design, implementation and continued evolution of the Bridgestone Americas data privacy programs and assisting with the administration of the Ethics and Compliance program. The position will report to the Associate General Counsel, Data Privacy Officer and Corporate Secretary.

This position is Nashville preferred (hybrid), but open to work from anywhere!

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain policies, procedures, documentation and standards relating to ethics and compliance and data privacy.
  • Ensure compliance requirements with a variety of global privacy laws and regulations including GDPR, CCPA, PIPEDA and LGPD.
  • Help advise on certain privacy related agreements and help the legal teams with privacy related contract provisions and contracts (such as Data Processing Agreements and other similar privacy addenda).
  • Stay current with existing and new domestic and international laws.
  • Identify, quantify, track and lead mitigation of privacy and compliance risks. Assist with data mapping, data privacy impact assessments, data subject requests and privacy by design.
  • Support on privacy related security incidents.
  • Support the business and functional groups in implementing Privacy by Design in new systems and software as they are developed as Bridgestone progresses in its journey to becoming a solutions business.
  • Assist in privacy and compliance due diligence in M&A transactions and in integration of acquired companies into privacy and compliance programs.
  • Collect and utilize data and metrics to analyze potential data privacy and compliance gaps and opportunities.
  • Assist with the administration of the company’s ethics reporting line, e-learning and certification programs, communications and training, third-party due diligence, investigation support, data analysis and utilization, process and systems development to support compliance, and legal and other research.
  • Prepare communications and learning materials for teammates in all areas of corporate compliance and data privacy, and develop and provide training and other learning resources to teammates throughout the Americas.
  • Collaborate with other regions to ensure alignment with global initiative and objectives.
  • Coordinate with vendors on program maintenance and implementation.
  • Occasional travel (<10% of time) may be required.

Qualifications:

  • BA/BS degree and/or 8+ years of relevant experience.
  • Strong oral and written communication, presentation, and training skills required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Teams training tools, and SharePoint and website content management.
  • Knowledge of CCPA (and other forthcoming US state privacy laws), PIPEDA, LGPD and GDPR is preferred.
  • Must have a proven track record of directly building, managing, and maintaining strong collaborative relationships with a variety of clients and vendors.

Ethics & Compliance

Each member of the Law Department plays a key role in operationalizing the global and regional ethics and compliance program. This will include, among other things, engaging leadership in the client groups you support; identifying and managing risks facing your client groups (including third party risks); ensuring policies, standards and controls are effective and in place; conducting trainings and finding other ways to ensure your client groups understand what they are expected and required to do; and, conducting investigations relating to your client groups.

Minimum Qualifications

Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of related experience with a bachelor’s degree; or 6 years and a master’s degree; or a PhD with 3 years of experience; or equivalent work experience
