Working with Kidizens is an engaging, fun, and exciting opportunity to hone your professional experience working with children this summer.
Kidizens is a unique, innovative enrichment program for 1st through 6th graders (ages 6-12) where “kid citizens” create an entire LEGO city over the course of the week while learning about civics and city planning, government, economics, the environment, and much more.
As a counselor, you will be inspiring students to become good citizens and future leaders, in line with Kidizens’ overarching mission. Working collaboratively with and leading a group of counselors and interns, you will be responsible to deliver high quality camp experience every week for a group of up to 24 kids. You will oversee multiple pairs of children working as Co-Mayors for their daily city-related projects (including LEGO building activities), present lessons on a variety of topics and engage children in delivering creative content to enhance their problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.
Ideal candidates are thought/policy leaders, educators, professionals, and ambitious college students with prior summer camp experience.
Requirements and Preferred Experience:
- Experience working with children in a classroom or camp setting
- Ability to create a fun and positive energy classroom environment - Possess strong classroom and behavioral management skills
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
- A flexible, energetic, social, enthusiastic, and engaging demeanor
- A strong desire to help shape, influence, and nurture the minds of children
Our summer session begins June 5th and ends August 25th. Summer employment will begin May 30th with work hours ranging from 32-40 hours per week.
Location: San Mateo
Job Type: Full-time (June to August, can work select weeks)
Compensation: $18.00 to $22.00 / hour (based on experience)

COVID-19 considerations:
All staff is expected to be fully vaccinated before entering any camp facilities. Additionally, all staff and campers will be wearing masks at all times while indoors at any camp facilities.
