Position Title: Lean Office Manager
Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, 40 Hours/ Week
Summary of Duties: Responsible for driving Operational Excellence & Lean Culture throughout the North America Systems factories network with focus on Continuous Improvement, Quality & Safety. Ensure cross-functional implementation and roll out of Lean Production Systems & Operating Models. Drive best practice transfer and lessons learned among the locations in the region. Manage the continuous improvement initiatives for the factories in Siemens EP North America such as Lean, Housekeeping, Kaizen teams, Savings Projects, Improvement ideas. High Performance Teams Development, Policy Deployment, Cost Reduction Initiatives. Responsible of the Lean Expert Training Program, which is a twice a year 3-week program held at multiple sites across the SI EP US network factories and consists of Lean training theory (5s, 7 wastes, Value Stream Mapping, Workstation Design, Low-Cost Automation, SMED, TPM, Shop Floor Management, etc.), hands-on sessions, transformation projects and certification process. Coordinate and coach plant Staff, Supervisors and others to successfully understand and utilize Operational Excellence concepts such as Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Green Belt, Black Belt, Hoshin Kanri and other Lean tools and principles. Work with multiple Plant Directors to provide support in developing and maintaining metrics and performance indicators in regional plants and global facilities to ensure the plant performance improvement targets are successfully attained. Act as Inhouse consultant for the locations in the region with focus on manufacturing optimization, digitalization and logistics. Lead project specific task force(s) directed at addressing specific problems or operational incidents/situations that are not aligned to established standards or expectations. Run Continuous Improvement Process and Problem-Solving Workshops (PDCA cycle) to improve productivity and address operational constrains. Plan and initiates benchmarking activities and (self-) assessments of organizational unit’s operational performance. Implement, promote, guide & deploy focused strategies across Siemens SI EP. Act as an advisor, as requested, to support the Upper Management Staff with objectives of all business units.
Qualifications: The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field (or foreign degree equivalent) and eight years of experience in the job offered or an acceptable alternate occupation.
The position requires seven years in the following skills: Experience and ability to prepare executive reports, project business cases, and others and deliver the information to senior management; comprehensive (deep and broad) expertise in Lean and Six Sigma methodologies in a manufacturing environment; demonstrated experience in developing, preparing and conducting Lean manufacturing expert trainings for different levels of the organization; demonstrated experience in managing Lean Manufacturing projects through a community of Lean practitioners; proven effectiveness in delivering significant savings through the implementation of Lean Manufacturing methodologies; comprehensive (deep and broad) expertise in Strategy Development and Deployment in a manufacturing environment; demonstrated experience in developing, preparing, and conducting Strategy Development workshops with senior leaders of the organization; demonstrated experience in managing Strategy Deployment and Execution teams including senior leaders, key contributors and individual contributors within the organization; proven effectiveness in implementing and executing enterprise strategy in a manufacturing environment; well established in external and internal networks within field of expertise; ability of influencing peers and others to achieve impact on results in larger organization; demonstrated experience in conducting benchmarking activities inside and outside own organization through networks of trust; proven implementation of examples of best practices on own organization. Approximately 80% travel required.
