About the People & Diversity Team
The People & Diversity (P&D) team leads engagement related to attracting, retaining, rewarding and ensuring equity and the wellbeing and development of our greatest asset, our People. Critical to the progress of Ceres’ mission, this team leads initiatives to curate a culture of inclusion and belonging while diligently attending to the workforce needs of Ceres.

About You

You are a skilled listener, investigator, and communicator (written and oral) with an aptitude for creating shared understanding, relationship building, and distilling information into its basic parts. You have proven experience delivering consistent performance under various levels of demand. You are an energetic facilitator, and an introspective observer.

About the Role
Under the direction of the Chief People & Diversity Officer, the People Relations Manager responds to, investigates as appropriate, and brings to resolution employee relations issues. Additionally, this role seeks to ensure equitable treatment and a positive workplace culture in a manner consistent with the Ceres policies, procedures, and state and federal law.

Primary duties include but are not limited to the following:
  • Respond to a range of employee relations concerns, including harassment, discrimination, retaliation, workplace violence, and other violations of rules, regulations, policies, and procedures, conducting investigations as appropriate.
  • Communicate regularly regarding pending investigations and provide timely investigation reports with supporting documentation for all completed investigations
  • Use effective interviewing and documentation techniques and ensure appropriate case management
  • Consult with the Chief People & Diversity Officer and General Counsel when conducting investigations to ensure efficient, timely and effective resolution of workplace concerns
  • Draft and update Ceres’ people-related policies and procedures that pertain to employee relations
  • Partner with People Development to develop and conduct training on Ceres’ policies and issues or initiatives related to workplace culture.
  • Analyze employee relations trends with Chief People & Diversity Officer and partner with colleagues on the People & Diversity team to help develop proactive strategies, solutions, programs, and policies
  • Develop effective relationships to promote positive employee relations throughout the organization to ensure a high level of employee satisfaction and engagement
  • Provides guidance on effective ways of resolving employee relations issues and makes recommendations utilizing appropriate resources.
  • Reviews and approves disciplinary action documents based on predefined criteria.
  • Participates in performance-related discussions, as needed.
  • Escalates issues using strong judgment, discretion and appropriate sense of urgency assessing risk and sensitivity level.
  • Apprises Ceres’ leadership on the status of issues and concerns being addressed and recommendations or disciplinary actions as appropriate.
  • Serve as Ceres’ ADA Coordinator, responding to requests for reasonable accommodations under the ADA
Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years’ relevant work experience with some experience in employee relations, investigations, DEI, employment law, and disciplinary actions.
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws, statutes, which govern employment policies and practices.
  • Experience facilitating ADA reasonable accommodations and accessibility highly preferred.
  • Experience successfully supporting initiatives across geographically distributed teams
  • Proven experience prioritizing work.
  • Excellent writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to influence desired outcome
  • Ability to quickly build relationships and credibility
Compensation and Benefits
The hiring salary is $80,000 - $85,000 and pairs with competitive benefits.
