The Finance team at Scotiabank growing, and is looking to add a Manager, Regulatory Reporting Projects to our growing team! This role performs regulatory reporting quality control for GBM U.S. Finance, ensuring specific goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. This role also ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures.
The Manager, Reporting Projects reports to the Director, Reporting Projects Lead and is responsible for the design and implementation of both tactical and strategic initiatives that improve the quality of regulatory reporting.
This individual is responsible to review, analyze and prioritize resolution of issues and monitor their resolution through system project build, testing, and implementation. If you are interested in joining a dynamic and passionate team, apply today!
Is this role right for you? You will be responsible for:
Championing a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.- Designing and implement regulatory reporting systems.
- Understanding data at its source and the corresponding general ledger and data warehouse relationships.
- Preparing business requirements and functional specifications to support Finance regulatory reporting system change initiatives. Ensure they are reasonably sufficient and adequate in content, structure, and logic to provide application developers the necessary technical information to design, build and configure Axiom.
- Managing all phases of testing, and underlying reconciliation to source data.
- Reviewing system data flows and be able to identify issues and offer solutions.
- Working closely with Data Group Office to identify, and document data quality issues and offer solutions.
- Developing and implement interim solutions to address regulatory reporting issues.
- Reviewing regulatory reporting reports against risk reporting (inter-report reconciliation) to ensure completeness, accuracy, and timeliness among other factors.
- Identify, analyze, and prioritize internal control issues that result in reporting weakness; conduct analysis of Axiom related issues to assess risk and determine root cause.
- Understanding how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.

Understanding of business risks and internal controls.- Knowledge of objectives and content of U.S. regulatory reporting.
- Ability to develop strong relationships and to gain the confidence of stakeholders.
- Demonstrated results in unstructured situations.
- Familiar with Axiom application development life cycle methodologies.
- Experience in assessing and escalating sensitive issues, preform root cause analysis, and develop tactical and strategic preventive measures.
- Solid understanding of overall banking business and capital markets products.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to communicate objectives and document results.
