Description:As the Additive Manufacturing (AM) Research Engineer, you will drive the adoption of innovative new tools, materials, and technologies to enable the next generation of AM focused product designs. Working closely with both Design and Manufacturing engineering teams you will lead AM-focused research projects to accelerate design for additive manufacturing methodologies and support their implementation into current and future products. Key initiatives include supporting:
To achieve success, the candidate will leverage their Additive manufacturing technical experience, Hands-on application of generative design tools, strong understanding of materials science, and technical domain experience in traditional manufacturing methods to promote innovation while working collaboratively to balance design trades and affordability objectives.
As an experienced member of our team, this person will act as a technical mentor and leader for our less experienced researchers.

Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week

- Generative Design and Design for Additive Capabilities
- Additive Hardware Prototyping and Process Development
- Additive Supply Chain and Customer Support
- Execution & support of Internal & External Research Projects and Proposals

Basic Qualifications:
- BS, MS, PhD in Engineering, Materials Science, or other relevant technical related field
- 15 years of experience in structural design and manufacturing which should include 5 years of experience in Additive Manufacturing industry
- Experience with Design for Additive Manufacturing tools, and methodologies.
- Able to distill complex, multifactor issues, projects, data, and decisions through excellent written, presentation, and communication skills
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
- Must be a U.S. Citizen and have the ability to obtain a Secret security clearance
- MS or PhD in Engineering, Materials Science, or other relevant technical field
- 10 years experience with metal additive (DED, L-PBF)
- Demonstrated experience with technical leadership & execution of research & development programs
- Strong engineering design skills and design experience
- DoD design and manufacturing experience
