Location/Division Specific Information
St. Louis, MO / Drug Substance Division - The Drug Substance Division is one of the five divisions that make up the Pharma Services Group. We specialize in both small and large molecule development and commercial drug substance services. This allows us to serve the needs of Small/Emerging, Mid-Sized, and Large Pharma sectors globally.
Work Schedule: 1st Shift 6:00 am - 2:30 pm Monday thru Friday
Discover Impactful Work:
Under moderate supervision, perform day to day operations within the Materials Management group to include, shipping, receiving, handling and processing raw materials to ensure Production requirements are met. Ensure adequate supplies of material are on hand. Clean equipment and materials to the proper standards for the production environment. Maintain accurate inventory counts. Apply GP to request material and determine expired materials. Coordinates the efficient movement of materials with purchasing and facilities.
A day in the Life:
- Ensure materials, supplies and miscellaneous receipts are received, processed, documented and maintained in accordance with SOPs, including the handling of temperature sensitive and hazardous materials.
- Stock gowning and empty trash from suites, general housekeeping, daily. Maintain areas to required GMP clean standards.
- Clean in materials and equipment to support continuous flow in the Production Process.
- Maintain cGMP compliance to include labeling, FEFO, documentation, cleaning, etc.
- Prepare hazardous waste and materials for disposal in coordination with EH&S. Assist EHS with handling and disposal of hazardous waste streams. Clean empty containers for recycling.
- Handles and prepares all international shipments in accordance with IATA standards and guidelines.
- Support packing of product and non-routine shipments.
- Review Kanban cards and inventory levels.
- Perform cycle and inventory counts as directed.
- Oversee the total inventory management process including but not limited to: cycle counts, full physical inventory counts, performing inventory investigations when needed or required. Perform all material operations as needed. General Warehouse Operations (inventory control, shipping, receiving, ERP, lift truck, etc.)
- Provide customer service/focus as needed in relation to warehouse operations. Represent warehouse interests and concerns at meetings. Support the material group on projects. Work to resolve conflict between groups.
- Perform incoming material receipts and all storage moves necessary. Pull required material for Production.
- Transportation of Hazardous Materials (Certification: IATA and 49CFR)
- Adhere to all OSHA warehouse requirements
- Keep current on all required training
- Support 24/7 Production operations, to include on-call rotation
Keys to Success:
Education
- High school diploma or GED required.
Experience
- 3-5 years of experience in a warehouse environment
- 1-3 years Forklift experience
- Experience in a GMP environment preferred
- Pharmaceutical/Biopharmaceutical or related industry background preferred
- Order and clean in materials and equipment properly.
- Able to follow detailed instructions.
- Ability to obtain Class E driver’s license
Other Job Requirements:
- Adhere to OHS policies and procedures and ensure a safe and healthy workplace environment
- Ability to read, interpret and author documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to use equipment/machinery/tools used may include forklifts, pallet jack, drum dolly, barrel hoist, strapping machine and company vehicles.
- Basic PC skills
- This position frequently requires bending, twisting, pushing, pulling, reaching overhead and standing. Additionally, this position makes deliveries between multiple buildings within the Thermo Fisher Scientific St. Louis, MO site.
