The following defines the core role and responsibilities of the Maximo Business Analyst. This is not intended as a definitive list of all activities that a Maximo Business Analyst may take on and in many cases, it is expected that the Maximo Business Analyst role is just one of many that a specific individual may play within a project. The Maximo Business Analyst may also be assigned additional responsibilities by the Project Manager or Functional Lead.

Overview

All responsibilities assume a full working knowledge of Maximo Enterprise Asset Management Software.

The core responsibilities performed by the BA role include the following:

• Fit/Gap Analysis

Requirements Gathering

The Maximo Business Analyst is responsible for meeting with the client to determine requirements and documenting the requirements according to Interloc standards. The Maximo Business Analyst is expected to guide the client in proper requirements and to ensure that the requirements document tracks true requirements and not client-defined solutions. The Maximo Business Analyst is responsible for meeting with the client and obtaining approval of the final requirements document.

Fit/Gap Analysis

The Business Analyst is responsible for analyzing requirements and identifying each requirement as a Fit or a Gap, in accordance with the scope of the project. The BA is also responsible for meeting with the client to review the Fit/Gap document and providing options and workarounds for each Gap.

Functional Specifications

The Business Analyst is responsible for developing Functional Specification documents according to Interloc standards.

System Testing

The Business Analyst is responsible for performing initial System Testing as per the Functional Specifications.

Test Script Documentation

When required by the project, the Business Analyst is responsible for developing Test Scripts for use in User Acceptance Testing.

Management of User Acceptance Testing

When required by the project, the Business Analyst is responsible for setting up User Acceptance Testing sessions, providing user training in Maximo prior to UAT, and supporting the users during User Acceptance Testing. The BA is responsible for recording all issues in the proper Interloc software (currently redmine), identifying the criticality of each issue, and tracking each issue through to resolution.

Training Documentation

When required by the project, the Business Analyst is responsible for developing end-user training materials in accordance with Interloc standards.

Training Delivery

When required by the project, the Business Analyst is responsible for determine the training class schedule, reviewing this with the client, and performing the training for each class.

GoLive Support

The Business Analyst is responsible for supporting the users and the technical team during GoLive.
