Job Summary:

The Taos/Picuris Service Unit is the primary source of non-emergency, outpatient services for the members of the Picuris and Taos Pueblos, serving approximately 3000 people. There are 2 full-time physicians, 2 mid-level providers & 2 full-time dentists. Lab and pharmacy are on site. Specialist consultations from Taos, Santa Fe, and Albuquerque are provided, as needed. The Taos-Picuris Service Unit is accredited by Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care, Inc. (AAAHC). Services include Audiology, Behavioral Health (638), Dental, Health Education, Laboratory, Medical, Nursing, Nutrition, Optometry, Pharmacy, Podiatry, Public Health Nursing, and Radiology.

Taos is the Soul of the Southwest. Taos, NM is in the north-central region of New Mexico, encompassing the Rocky Mountains and the Rio Grane Gorge. Taos is known as a bona fide Art Colony but is also home to a world class ski resort, a World Heritage Site (Taos Pueblo), and St. Francisco de Asis. Taos has many outdoor activities, daily live music performances, a movie & a fine arts theater, 3 fitness centers, and plenty of 5-star restaurants. Three ski areas are within 30 minutes’ drive away. Five historic arts museums are free to residents. Organic farm and organic grocer are 5 minutes’ drive from clinic. Saturday Farmer's Market and free "Thursday Plaza Live!" music concerts provide great entertainment. Ojo Caliente Mineral Spring Spa (45 min drive) makes a nice weekend escape. Supervisory Responsibilities: This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities but does serve as a coach and mentor for other positions in the department.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates and sets up meetings.
  • Compiles reports per administrative instructions.
  • Performs data entry.
  • Provides records management and documentation services.
  • Provides other support services as directed by the government official.
  • Provides appropriate follow-up as directed or per established guidelines
  • Observes and abides by all Policies and Procedures, Bylaws, Rules, and Regulations of stationed IHS Service Unit.Preserves patient confidentiality and promotes patient advocacy.
  • Maintains the dignity and worth of individuals, respects cultural, spiritual and psychosocial differences and applies philosophical and ethical concepts that promote quality and continuity of care. Demonstration of continual cultural awareness and focus on customer service while adhering to the Code of Ethics and Federal Code of Conduct.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA):

  • Strong customer service, professional communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to maintain an appointment system by computer.
  • Compliance with IHS Service Units and/or Health Centers published Policies; Procedures; Standards of Care; and hospital and Laboratory Protocols.
  • Ensure all required documentation meets established IHS Medical Facility, Joint Commission, and CMS standards to include, but are not limited to, timeliness, legibility, accuracy, content, date, time, and signature.
  • Flexibility to meet the facility’s scheduling needs.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Required: Related customer service experience.
  • Required: Knowledge and experience in using Microsoft Office, Adobe and conferencing software.
  • Required: High school diploma or GED.
  • Prefered: Medical supply experience, at least one (1) year

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Pre-employment Requirements:

  • This position may be contingent upon passing a security clearance, fingerprinting, background check, drug screen or credit check after acceptance of an offer and prior to beginning work, due to the nature of the services Chloeta provides.
  • Documentation from the provider’s physician or chief of staff that confirms they do not have any health problems (including disability, emotional stability, drug, or alcohol dependency) that might impair his/her ability to care for patients at time of application.
  • Ability to meet client facility requirements with regard to immunity for vaccine preventable diseases through documented disease, vaccination history, serology results, and/or any documented episodes of adverse events after vaccination.

Housing

Some locations for travel nurses and travel allied health positions provide Government housing on site for a nominal monthly fee, but is subject to availability. Chloeta support staff will make every effort possible to assist travelers in locating and securing housing prior to start dates.

Drug and Alcohol Testing

To enforce Chloeta’s Drug and Alcohol Testing Policy, an employee or candidate could be subject to undergoing a drug screen and/or alcohol testing during or at the beginning of employment.

Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA)

Under the FCRA, Chloeta may request a credit check during the onboarding process. A written authorization form will be required before obtaining credit records.

Emergency Response

Every Chloeta employee has regular and recurring emergency management responsibilities, though not every position requires routine deployment to disaster sites. All positions are subject to recall around the clock for emergency management operations, which may require irregular work hours, work at locations other than the official Duty Station, and may include duties other than those specified in the employee's official Position Description (PD). Travel requirements in support of emergency operations may be extensive in nature (weeks to months), with little advance notice, and may require employees to relocate to emergency sites with physically austere and operationally challenging conditions.
