JOB TITLE: Medical Assistant
TYPE: Non-Exempt, Part-time: 24-32 per week
$21/hour

The SLO Noor Foundation Health Clinics is seeking a Medical Assistant 3-4 days (24-32 hours) per week.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provides reception, answers phones, takes messages, and schedules appointments.
• Assists medical providers during patient visits and with providing patient education pertaining to their ongoing health care.
• May act as an interpreter when necessary between patient and provider.
• Interviews patients to obtain medical information and reason for seeking care; takes vital signs and prepares patients for providers.
• Acts as a liaison for patients during clinics; assists with referral work; advises of pharmacy needs and provides prescription information to pharmacies and assists in pharmacy refills.
• Performs miscellaneous procedures and provides wound care as required.
• Maintains and adheres to HIPAA, employee confidentiality, and privileged communications (patient, employee, and organization).
• Perform other duties within scope of the position as assigned by the Medical Clinic Manager or Executive Director.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• Bilingual - ability to read, speak, and write in Spanish and English
• High school diploma or GED required
• Graduation and Certification from an accredited school in Clinical Medical Assisting
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to function as part of a team
• Computer aptitude with experience in Electronic Medical Records preferred
