DMC Primary Care seeks a full-time Medical Billing and Coding Specialist in our Londonderry, New Hampshire billing office for our radiology billing and coding team. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with a team-orientated mindset who wants to be an important member of our team. Please note that this is not a remote position.

Essential Functions:

• Assign appropriate ICD-10CM diagnosis codes and modifiers to radiology reports, and verify pre-assigned CPT/HCPCS codes for accuracy
• Prepare medical claims for submission to Medicare, Medicaid, and various commercial insurance carriers
• Post payments from medical insurance carriers and patients
• Work denied claims. Correct diagnosis codes, modifiers, and other claim information as needed, as well as file claim reconsiderations and appeals
• Provide excellent customer service while taking inbound calls and assisting patients with requests and billing questions
• Follow up and communicate with insurance companies, patients, and manager regarding unpaid claims
• Assist with verification of patient insurance coverage
• Multi-task through several different healthcare databases with ease
• Communicate effectively within a team setting and share knowledge within and across teams
• Manage claims, appeals, and denials in a timely manner

Qualifications/Education/Experience:

• 2 years of radiology billing and coding experience preferred but willing to train the right candidate
• Team player with a positive, can-do attitude required
• Strong computer skills required including knowledge of Microsoft Office
• Self-starter with ability to multitask, establish and rearrange priorities in a fast-paced environment while demonstrating a team-oriented mindset
• Knowledge of how to interpret Explanation of Benefits (Explanation of Payment)
• Strong oral and written communications skills
• Familiarity processing correspondence with adherence to HIPPA guidelines

• Proficient in the use of EMR software. Prior experience with Allscripts preferred

• Minimum of high school education or equivalent; Associate Degree preferred

• Knowledge of CPT/ICD-10CM/HCPCS Coding
