As the Lead Network Administrator, you will be a critical part of a cohesive helpdesk providing monitoring, troubleshooting, and administration for the JRTC Instrumentation Systems network infrastructure. This position will provide support to users by isolation and debugging complex customer connectivity issues. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are desired, as well as the ability to exhibit a high level of comfort while interfacing directly with technical and non-technical customers.
This position does require “shift work” during Army Training Rotation Periods. Although shifts are typically 8-hour, shift assignments will vary and are managed by the on-site Admin Lead.
Responsibilities:
- Works directly with Technical Lead to identify customer needs and requests.
- Coordinates daily tasks and assignments for Network Operations team.
- Works with Network Administrators to ensure mission requirements of the Network Operations team are met.
- Assesses skill level of Network Operations team and provides training to team members that need improvement.
- Responds to support requests from customers and prospects via telephone, email, and Helpdesk support tickets. Responsibilities include logging, tracking, and closing incoming support requests.
- Collaborates extensively with peers and management to resolve client issues, while actively contributing to a growing knowledge network that improves the effectiveness of our team and the information available to our clients.
- Can work independently and maintain excellent customer service skills.
- Attends and acts on all training required, to include, but not limited to, Information Assurance, ethics, and all policies and procedures, both security and non-security related.
- Ensures overall client satisfaction and all technical needs are delivered.
- Can handle end-to-end troubleshooting within multiple aspects of Information Systems
- Is familiar with IA/RMF procedures.
- Researches and provides solutions for issues related to network device hardware and software errors.
- Prioritizes numerous issues of varying severity, and effectively manages the resolution of all issues within accepted service levels. This includes accepting ownership of the data entered in the Helpdesk system, then appropriately updating both clients and appropriate employees of issue statuses in a timely manner.
- Maintains proper documentation with technical best practices, guidelines for standard procedures, checklists, etc.
- Has excellent computer hardware and software troubleshooting skills, as well as broad and extensive working (hands-on) knowledge of IT industry, preferably some within the federal or military industries.
- Can work on-site in Fort Polk, LA, covering the entire area of responsibility.
- Additional System Administrators duties might need attention as they arise during shift work
Qualifications:
- 5+ years supporting design, integration, installation, testing and sustainment of complex networks.
- 5+ years of experience with OSPF Networks, BGP Networks, Statically Routed Networks, spanning VLANs, Router/Switch ACLs, and Firewalls
- Must meet IAT II Baseline Certification (e.g., Security+) requirement upon acceptance of the position
- Must show Network Environment (e.g., CCNA, CCNP) certification within first 90 days of employment
- 5+ years of related experience in an IT Service Management capacity
