Our small busy law firm is seeking a Legal Assistant for our real estate department in Lincolnton, NC. The firm is a general civil practice that focuses on residential and commercial real estate, business law, family law and probate and estate issues. It is a non-corporate, non-traditional atmosphere that emphasizes culture, collaboration, and a team driven approach to working. As a Legal Assistant, for our real estate department. You will coordinate real estate activity, including distributing correspondence and redirecting phone calls. You should be comfortable working on a PC, and should have experience in both Microsoft Office and Google Docs; marketing and business development experience is helpful.
In order for you to be selected as a candidate, you will need the ability to write clearly and be proficient with word processing applications, and have the ability to act with relative independence. A pleasing personality, hospitable disposition, and strong communication skills are also highly valued.
Legal Assistant Requirements:
- High school diploma or Associate's Degree. Paralegal experience or degree preferred; experience in a real estate setting is a plus.
- Experience as an office assistant or in related field.
- Ability to write clearly and help with word processing when necessary.
- Warm personality with strong communication skills.
- Ability to work well under limited supervision.
- Great communication skills.
- Have a valid driver's license.
Our closing management system is largely online based and digital. This means that all of our agent information requests, buyer and seller information requests, and party communications are largely electronic. The primary functions that this assistant role will fill, among other ad hoc tasks, are:
- Sending listing and selling agent information requests, and following up on unresponded to requests;
- Collecting all invoices or expenses from agents and making sure they're added to client files;
- Sending buyer and seller information requests, and following up on unresponded to requests;
- Ordering and confirming mortgage payoffs and HOA statements;
- Scanning, saving, and emailing signed closing documents to relevant transaction parties;
- Being a facilitator to receive agent and party questions, and then ensuring that those questions or requests are responded to.
