Due to the success and growth of the company, along with the pending retirement of our incumbent, we’re now seeking a President and CEO to lead the US business for Wood Thilsted. This is a full-time position, and you will be reporting to our Director of Growth. You will get the opportunity to help grow the business and contribute to the clean energy transition.
Wood Thilsted USA Inc. is a Massachusetts Corporation and a wholly owned subsidiary of Wood Thilsted Partners Ltd., based in the UK. The person in this role will be the President and CEO of Wood Thilsted USA.
About the role:
Wood Thilsted is strongly committed to the One Team concept - our clients globally receive the same work output and level of service wherever they are because our teams are global. Part of this role will be to continue to foster that culture in our Boston office.
We are looking for a seasoned professional with extensive work experience in a senior capacity and a few years (but not essentially) in the offshore wind industry. Experience as a Consultant Engineer will also be considered favorably. You will preferably hold a master’s degree or higher in engineering, science, or business. Experience in international business, business development, team leadership, and working in multidisciplinary technical teams are all a plus.

You will be responsible for:
A broad range of areas, as set forth below. We do not expect every candidate to completely cover all areas.
- Leadership of the US business
- Business development in the US
- Understanding the US offshore wind market
- Providing pastoral support to US Employees
- Supporting the development and training of US Professional Engineers
- Client relationship management with US clients
- Coordinating with the global marketing team on global clients with a US presence
- Assisting in global marketing
- Build and nurture relationships with the press and media.
- Overall management of WT US conference participation
- Participating in developing and/or reviewing proposals for US projects
- Participating in developing and/or reviewing contracts for US projects
- Providing input to recruitment in the US
- Fostering collaboration with US universities for graduate hires
- Setting the pace of growth of the US team in collaboration with corporate leadership
- Working with the global human resources team to ensure consistency in the US
- Technical input and assistance in your area of expertise
- Understanding the applicability of US codes and standards in US offshore wind
- Overall office management, working with administrative resources based in the UK
Do you have what it takes?
We are looking for exceptional candidates with some or all of:
- Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) in the United States
- Proven leadership skills, especially working with international teams
- Experience in business development, especially contacts with US clients
- Knowledge of commercial tendering and contracting practices, and some understanding of key commercial terms
- Demonstrable technical expertise in some discipline applicable to offshore wind
- Experience in developing and implementing marketing strategies
- Excellent interpersonal skills at all levels
- Strong communication skills with colleagues, clients, consultants and contractors through a variety of media, including both web-based telecommunication and face-to-face meetings
- Excellent organizational skills and capability of keeping track of multiple aspects of work
While this role is a direct replacement for the retiring incumbent, it is anticipated that a like for like candidate may not be found, and therefore the role may be recast or split to suit the attributes and strengths of the candidates.
