Northrop Grumman's Space Sector Launch Vehicles is seeking a Principal Machine Shop auditor for approval/continuing supplier approval of new/current Machine Shop suppliers.

The successful candidate will:

  • Use quality processes and tools (Root Cause and Corrective Actions, Inspection Methodology, G, D & T, FMEAs,) as well as supplier quality experience

  • Possess experience with AS9100 auditing and possession or willingness to acquire Lead Auditor Certificate

  • Possess or obtain Lead Auditor (AS9100D) certification

  • Fluent in Blueprint (CAD Model) reading and GD & T

  • Have experience in machined mechanical parts and manufacturing processes as well as fabricating of GSE and Weldments

  • Bring experience working in Quality Assurance / Quality Control and CMM Programming

  • Adeptly operate in First Article process per AS9102

  • Daily use Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

  • Engagement with Cost Point and Tip QA

  • NGC LV and AS9100 Auditor Code of Ethics Requirements

  • Undertake training in ASQ Course Work in the areas of Supplier Quality, Quality Engineer, PMEA, Six Sigma, etc.

  • Working with processes related to Forgings, Castings, Sheet Metal, Hydroformed, Pneumatics and Hydraulics, Gears, Fasteners / Hardware and Composite Structures

  • Develop and deploy continuous improvement initiatives for this process to support supply base performance goals in supplier approval, surveillance, auditing, and quality rating.

  • Work closely with engineering, mission assurance, material, and procurement professionals in the entire purchasing process to ensure the highest quality of procured hardware.

  • Responsible for the stream of supplier quality assurance contractual data and the subsequent report generation and publishing of performance metrics using Excel, Word, and PowerPoint software.

  • Be able to travel as an essential function of this position (approximately 30-50%) and may be on short notice.

This position requires prolonged periods of sitting, standing, and walking and ability to lift and carry 50 pounds for short distances.

Except for training period, Work schedule includes a 9/80 schedule (9 hours per day Mon-Thurs and 8 hours every-other-Friday with the other Friday off)

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors of Science in Engineering +5 years of experience; Masters Degree + 3 years of experience; 11+ years relevant experience in lieu of degree is acceptable

  • Machine shop experience (Minimum 5 years)

  • Experience with machined mechanical parts and manufacturing processes as well as fabricating of GSE and Weldments

  • Inspection Methodology, G, D & T, FMEAs,) as well as supplier quality experience

  • Prior experience with AS9100 auditing and/or willingness to acquire Lead Auditor Certificate

  • Fluent in Machining and Inspection Practices as well as an understanding of Manufacturability of machined components.

  • Fluent in Blueprint (CAD Model) reading and GD & T

  • Experience working in Quality Assurance / Quality Control and CMM Programming

  • Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds and sit, stand or walk for prolonged periods of time

  • Ability to obtain US Security Clearance

  • Ability to Travel (approximately 30-50%)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Cost Point and Tip QA

  • Lead Auditor (AS9100D) certification

  • Fluency with NGC LV and AS9100 Auditor Code of Ethics Requirements

Salary Range: $74,600 USD - $111,800 USD


Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
