Responsibilities
Under direction of the Program Director, the Clinical Research Supervisor 1 (Project Manager) is responsible for the day-to-day research project management activities of the Greater Sacramento Women’s Brain Health (GROW) Program. The Project Manager (PM) is an experienced clinical research professional responsible for hiring, supervising, and developing clinical research coordinators, fostering the participant clinic experience, writing and enforcing standard operating procedures, monitoring study retention, projecting, tracking, and adhering to enrollment timelines, and ensuring that the study protocol is executed appropriately in the research clinic. The PM will work closely with the Program Director and the Director of Community Outreach to ensure diverse recruitment, screening, and enrollment to the GROW study.

The Greater Sacramento Women’s Brain Health (GROW) Program, focused in Oak Park and surrounding neighborhoods in the Sacramento area, aims to fill the gap in research on sex- and race-based drivers of dementia. The GROW research study will recruit middle-aged and elderly women for a longitudinal observational study. Women participating in the study will complete annual health screenings, questionnaires, and cognitive testing with the research team. Through following women over time, we aim to identify and better understand risk and resilience factors for brain health.

This position may be a hybrid remote work opportunity.
Required Qualifications
  • Clinical Trial Professional certification from a professional society within one year in position.
  • CA Driver’s License.
  • Bachelor degree in public health/related field and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Working knowledge of clinical or laboratory research, clinical trial recruitment, eligibility, protocol adherence, quality data submission and adverse event reporting.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities, prioritize projects and meet the demands of a fast-paced and dynamic work environment. Adaptable to quickly changing priorities
  • Demonstrated skills in employee supervision. Demonstrated experience in training others, particularly in the field of research
  • Critical thinking skills to evaluate issues and identify a potential solution.
  • Clear and concise communicator; excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including but not limited to: problem-solving, teamwork development, leadership, mentorship.
  • Interpersonal skills to effectively motivate others. Works well with others to achieve common goals.
  • Ability to cultivate relationships with multiple stakeholders at various levels of administration.
  • Experience with tracking systems and recruitment strategies which encourage diverse participants.
  • Ability to perform all commonly applicable functions in word processing and spreadsheet software (Excel).
  • Effectively uses campus’ clinical information and documentation application programs.
  • Proven ability utilizing clinical trial management systems (REDCap).
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite, including Microsoft Access.
  • Experience with PDF management and cloud storage systems for shared files.
  • Applicants are encouraged to upload license and certification if required of the position.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced degree in public health/health administration.
  • UC Davis Limited Clinical Skills Training.
  • Demonstrated experience initiating investigator-initiated and/or observational research studies from the ground up.
  • Familiarity with research recruitment from community settings.
  • Experience working with a population of advanced age.
  • Knowledge of University policies and procedures.
Special Requirements
  • Work a flexible schedule to meet project deadlines and/or operational needs.
  • Occasional overtime and weekends may be required.
  • Travel may be required for training and meetings.
  • Must participate in the DMV Pull Notice Program.
  • This position may be subject to a criminal background investigation, drug screen, Live Scan fingerprinting, medical evaluation clearance, and functional capacity assessment.
