McCain Food’s facility in Burley, Idaho is a large-scale food processing plant, employing approximately 700 employees. This site specializes in the production of frozen potato products. Fun Fact: 1 in 4 French fries are produced by McCain Foods.

Position Summary:

Responsible for inspecting raw materials, processed and packaged products by testing and supplying the data of the evaluation, including data entry into an electronic database, and reporting the results to appropriate personnel.


Key Responsibilities
:

  • Promotes and adheres to company safety regulations
  • Collects samples and conducts various tests on raw, processed and finished products to ensure they meet company quality specifications.
  • Measures and records quality attributes of tested product.
  • Monitors the time and temperature of processing machinery.
  • Calibrate and set up lab equipment, perform new testing techniques and procedures.
  • Measures the SAPP/Citric Acid concentration in SAPP/Citric Acid addition systems.
  • May be required to adjust amount of sugar solution released into line equipment to control the color of the product.
  • Enters data into the computer system.
  • Documents, charts and graphs data.
  • Works downtime clean-ups as required.
  • Understands and adheres to the concepts and techniques of the quality process in order to assure a quality operation.


Qualifications
:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Must have ability to write routine reports and correspondence, and speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
  • Must have demonstrated computer skills and experience with the ability to learn quickly in a fast-paced, high stress environment where multi-tasking is required.
  • Must successfully complete the QA Grader certification.


Physical Demand
:

Constant: standing on regularly scheduled shift and reach with hands and arms.

Frequently: Walk, use of hands to finger, handle or feel; and talk or hear.

Occasionally: Sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch crawl, taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.
