Responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to:

• Report to RN Supervisor
• Prepare sterile field in procedure room
• Pull up imaging on PC through Medstrat and PACs programs
• AllScripts EHR Documentation (patient’s chief complaint, reason for visit, pain scores, pill count, allergies, medications, past medical history, family history, social history, previous treatments, past surgical, diagnostic studies, review of systems, enter MU criteria)
• Triage patients to include obtaining vitals (weight, height, blood pressure, temperature, respirations, skin, pulse, pain score)
• Assist in cast removal/ splint application
• Have patient change into gown
• Assist physician in exam room
• Perform PT/INR, AccuCheck, SP02
• Perform injections to include IM, SQ, Z-track, Intra-dermal
• Collect urine drug screens
• Phlebotomy
• Suture/staple removal and dressing changes
• Trigger Point Injection (TPI) set up
• Have patient sign consent forms
• Give instructions to patients as instructed by physician
• Process messages from patient care coordinator and physicians and provide feedback
• Call in refill requests once approved by physician
• Obtain pre-authorization for surgeries, work denials, schedule peer-to-peer
• Request surgical posting sheets and dictation
• Run PMP reports for Virginia and North Carolina
• Process opioid contracts
• Monitor Supply inventory and stock exam rooms
• Load ultrasound machine
• Escort patients to lab/procedure room/x-ray/check-out/vehicle
• Coding and filing out insurance forms
• Return phone calls
• Clean/sterilize instrumentation through autoclave
• Physical Demands: Requires full range of body motion and knowledge of proper body mechanics including handling and lifting patients, standing and walking for extensive periods of time. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighting up to 50 pounds, also in certain circumstances could have to support, assist or turn patients weighing up to 300 pounds. Requires ability to transport patients weighing up to 300 pounds via wheelchair (equivalent to 50 pounds pushing pressure) Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Requires ability to work under stressful conditions demanding high concentration and energy level.
• Obey privacy and security laws as outlined in the Spectrum Personnel Manual as well as those governed by HIPAA
• Comply with biohazard protocols as governed by OSHA
• Education and Experience - Applicants must have one or more of the following:
• High School diploma or GED.
• Participation in a two year Certified Medical Assistant program or Registered Medical Assistant program and successful completion g of the certification/registration exam.
• Current Medical Assistant Certification or Registration.
• Current CPR/BLS certification.
