The School of Nursing has a great opportunity for a part-time (50%) Research Coordinator position in the department of Child, Family, and Population Health Nursing. This position will oversee research activities between University of Washington and Kaiser Permanente Washington Health Research Institute (KPWHRI) in distribution, handling, editing, analysis, and data export from wrist actigraphy accelerometer devices used to measure sleep in participants in the Adult Changes in Thought (ACT) longitudinal study of aging and dementia.

The position will work with faculty and staff at both UW and KPWHRI to coordinate actigraphy sample data collection and analysis tracking between the two sites; facilitate technical support as needed from Philips Respironics regarding software and equipment malfunctions.

The ACT study interviews 2000-3000 older adults each year, ~60% of whom will agree to wear research accelerometer devices. This position is vital for ensuring that UW will be able to track and reliably process a steady stream of data over the next several years.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversee actigraphy data transfers and handling (40%)
  • Coordinate with KPWHRI colleagues to ensure timely transfer of actigraphy data
  • Contribute to data management strategies and build study data management tools
  • Assist with actigraphy sample editing and data exports
  • Perform data quality audits and provide weekly data reports

    Protocol development and implementation (30%)
  • Actively participate in protocol development for new study activities
  • Support development of study materials as part of a team; including standard operating procedures and study operations manuals
  • Create study training materials and conduct study trainings as needed

    Study Coordination (10%)
  • Track and report UW progress throughout the study
  • Support regulatory compliance and reporting
  • Perform other related duties as required to keep the study moving forward and on schedule

    Administration and operations (10%)
  • Support study staff in reporting to funding agency
  • Facilitate purchasing and procurement

    Analysis and dissemination of findings (5%)
  • Contribute to manuscripts and report writing

    Other Duties as directed by the PI (5%)

    Lead Responsibilities:
    Oversees data tracking, completion of data editing/analysis/export activities, and assists in quality assurance monitoring of other research staff

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • Master's Degree in social sciences (social work, psychology, counseling) or closely related field.
  • Nine or more years experience in support and coordination of multisite epidemiological and public health research studies
    Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.

  • Skills, knowledge, and experience working in diverse settings with multidisciplinary professional teams
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and excellent time management
  • Development of recruitment/data tracking systems
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
  • Familiarity with Word, excel, and powerpoint

    DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience with sleep research with older adults

  • Work during regular business hours, with a mixture of in-person and optional remote/telehealth work
