Summary

The Vannie E. Cook Jr. Children's Cancer and Hematology Clinic in McAllen, TX is seeking a full-time Research Coordinator II. This position will be involved with research projects funded by the National Cancer Institute examining neuro-cognitive outcomes following diagnosis and treatment for childhood leukemia. The Research Coordiantor II will coordinate day-to-day activities of clinical research protocols and will ensure recruitment, accurate data collection, documentation, and management. The selected applicant will undergo training in administration of neuro-cognitive assessments.

Job Duties

  • Manages all aspects of study implementation (e.g., scheduling study visits, obtaining informed consent, administering participant incentives).
  • Determines eligibility and recruits patients for research participation.
  • Conducts testing procedures required by study protocols, which includes administering neuropsychological tests to patients, scoring neuro-psychological tests, reporting test scores to the supervising psychologist, and assisting in interpreting the results.
  • Conducts medical chart abstractions.
  • Manages patient research files.
  • Develops and maintains databases in Microsoft Excel and statistical software packages (i.e., SPSS).
  • Prepares documentation necessary to obtain initial and continued approval for specific research protocols.
  • Completes all required training modules related to the Responsible Conduct of Research (e.g., CITI Program training).

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
  • One year of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)
