A Brief Overview

The Division of Pulmonary & Sleep Medicine and The Center for Lung Research at CHOP (Children s Hospital of Philadelphia) are dedicated to understanding the mechanisms underlying lung diseases and developing new strategies to prevent and treat these disorders. Studies in the Young laboratory encompass a spectrum of basic and patient-oriented research in interstitial lung diseases (ILD) and rare lung diseases and lung biology. Genetic mouse models and in vitro systems are utilized to understand the cell biology and mechanisms of ILD pathogenesis. Longitudinal research cohorts of patients with rare lung diseases provide biospecimens for genetic discovery and translational studies, with a goal of applying that knowledge towards the development of therapies.

In close collaboration with Dr. Young and the lab manager, the Research Technician III plays a vital role in the day-to-day operations of the laboratory. Specific duties include animal husbandry activities, genotyping, and related experiments utilizing both murine models and in vitro cell culture systems for molecular studies.
