Job Summary:

This hourly position supports the Experience Director with general cooking, produce preservation and kitchen restocking needs. A proactive work ethic, the ability to anticipate needs, strong decision-making skills, and attention to detail are necessary for this position. Strong interpersonal and communication skills along with the ability to work collaboratively as a team are also required.

Job Description:

• Hours: part-time (average ~32 hours / week + additional hours depending on need)
• Start date: available mid-May through mid-September.
• Schedule: generally M, W, Th, F from 8a-4p. However we do request availability during events as well.
• Travel: Between Lakeville and Sharon, local errands
• Reports to: Experience Director

Key Responsibilities:

• Shop at local grocery stores and farm stands for top quality produce, meats and packaged foods
• Thoughtfully prepare and package meals either from provided recipes or within guidelines provided by client and Experience Director
• Track refrigerator and pantry inventory across four properties and restock with groceries
• Deep clean and maintain high standards of cleanliness and care for all appliances, equipment, dishware and facilities across two properties
• Check in and maintain ongoing communication with Experience Director around priorities for each day
• Additional responsibilities, as needed:make prepared foods for two adults and two children

prepare lunches for house guests
prepare snacks for playdates
prepare meals for small dinner parties
cooking sessions with a seven and four year old
help prepare and execute events including dinner parties, harvest festivals and kid’s parties
harvest from gardens at three properties when needed and/or communicate harvest needs with gardeners
preserve the harvest with dehydrating, canning, fermenting, etc
support chefs in the Culinary Residency program

Required Skills/Abilities:

• 3-5 years experience in a professional kitchen with references
• Event experience
• Proactive personality and self-starter
• Ability to work independently on tasks and projects
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
• Comfortable with texting and GSuite applications
• Drivers license and reliable vehicle

This position is based in Sharon CT and Lakeville CT, as needed.
